Get to Know: Arron Afflalo

The veteran shooting guard will be relied upon to bring defense, toughness and experience to the Kings backcourt.

Arron Afflalo joins the Kings after spending one season with the New York Knicks. The 10-year veteran averaged 12.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and two assists in 33.4 minutes per game (57 starts).

Afflalo will primarily be asked to defend opposing team’s wing players and be a reliable perimeter shooter. He is a career 38 percent shooter from downtown. The Los Angeles native enjoyed his best statistical season during the 2013-14 campaign, when he started 73 games for the Orlando Magic. He averaged 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 42 percent from beyond-the-arc that year.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard was drafted with the No. 27 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons and was a part of the Detroit NBA Shooting Stars team that won the competition at the 2009 NBA All-Star Weekend.

The former Bruin played three years at UCLA and was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year in the 2006-07 season. Afflalo also took part in the 2015 USA Basketball Showcase in Las Vegas.
