Cousins Continues to Feast on Lakers

Tuesday night matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers found the Southern California team the recipient of blow after blow from DeMarcus Cousins. The Kings were the beneficiary, winning the game on the back of Boogie’s 40 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

It was the 12th straight time the All-Star scored in double-digits against the SoCal rival. More impressively, it was the 10th straight time he scored at least 20 points against the Lakers. Beginning in December 2013, Cousins has averaged 27.6 points per game when facing Los Angeles.

Scoring from both inside and outside, the division rival has had trouble trying to limit Boogie’s scoring, oftentimes resorting to physical tactics against the All-NBA center. However, the points column for the veteran big man has been helped by his trips to the charity stripe. During this 20-point streak, he is averaging 12 free throw attempts. As a result, 32.6 percent of his total points during the streak have come at the line.

These games have been characterized by his multifaceted talents. He has had double-doubles in eight of the past 10 games. While scoring 20 each time, he has also influenced the contest on the boards, averaging 11.8 rebounds during the stretch.

For a man his size, the former Kentucky star averages an above-average number of assists. As his career has progressed, he has gotten better at finding open teammates and passing out of double-teams. During this stretch, he is averaging 4.1 assists.

Also contributing on the the other end of the ball, he helps limit the effectiveness of his defensive assignments. This was exemplified in last night’s game, when only one of the Lakers big men was able to score in double-digits. Statistically, he is averaging 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks in the last 10 games.

After last night’s game, Boogie shared his thoughts on what to do when the Lakers attempt to defend him.

“Feed me,” he said with a smile to reporters following the win. “Feed me.”
