The Sacramento Kings today announced their four-game 2022-23 preseason schedule, tipping off at Crypto.com Arena against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, Oct. 3 (7:30 p.m. PDT).&nbsp;

The following week, the Kings face the Portland Trail Blazers at Golden 1 Center on Sunday, Oct. 9 (6 p.m. PDT). Sacramento then travels to Phoenix for its final road game against the Suns on Wednesday, Oct. 12 (7 p.m. PDT) at Footprint Center.

The Kings return home to take on the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden 1 Center on Friday, Oct. 14 (7 p.m. PDT).&nbsp;

Broadcast information for the Kings preseason games will be announced at a later date. Tickets for all Kings home games, including the preseason match ups, will be available this month. Kings Announce 2022-23 Preseason Schedule

Donating a Total of 2,000 Backpacks Filled with School Supplies

Today, the Sacramento Kings and Raley’s announced plans to provide 2,000 backpacks and school supplies to local youth.

“As families prepare for the upcoming school year, we are proud to partner with Raley’s to help provide fundamental supplies to contribute to student success,” said Sacramento Kings Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis. “Investing in our youth is a core pillar of our organization and we are committed to ensuring they have the resources needed for a bright future.”

"Raley's echoes the sentiment of the Kings and Volunteers of America in providing health and happiness for our youth,” said Raley’s Director of Community Relations Becca Whitman. “Getting back to routines and friendships is a wonderful reason to celebrate and support this backpack drive and all the kids in our communities.”

"I am so grateful for our partnership with the Kings and Raley's,” said Volunteers of America Director of Development Ana Bankert. “With their amazing support, Volunteers of America's Operation Backpack campaign will be able to help more local students who are in need of new backpacks and school supplies."

Yesterday, Kings and Raley’s team members gathered at Golden 1 Center to pack the backpacks with co-branded school supplies. Tonight, the two organizations will support a “Pick-a-Pack” event hosted by Volunteers of America Operation Backpack to allow pre-selected youth and their families to choose a backpack. Operation Backpack is Volunteers of America’s annual campaign to provide backpacks containing school supplies for students and families experiencing or are at-risk of homelessness. In 2022, their goal is to provide 10,000 backpacks to local students.

Of the 2,000 backpacks filled, a portion will be donated to Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack, Mentor California and Kings and Queens Rise Co-Ed Youth Sports and Mentoring League participants.

During the 2021-22 NBA Season, the Kings partnered with Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack and VSP Eyes of Hope to support students in need by providing gift certificates for free eye exams and glasses to schools and other education partners. Fans were encouraged to participate by donating brand-new backpacks and in return received a food voucher plus entry to win a seat upgrade.

Continuing the Kings efforts to lift up and support diverse companies, Sire Spirits, a black-owned business, becomes the official premium champagne partner with their award-winning Le Chemin du Roi (fittingly translated as The Kings Path), a proud spirits partner with their award-winning Branson Cognac and presenting sponsor of one of Golden 1 Center’s largest premium clubs, Rush, serving courtside and season ticket members. The club “Rush by Sire Spirits” will feature a breathtaking 500 bottle Le Chemin du Roi Champagne Wall.&nbsp;

During the season, Jackson plans to host high school students for a Kings game in an exclusive suite, participate in a sweepstakes for a road trip meet and greet and take part in an episode of Beyond the Paint, a Kings series that explores the cross section of sports, culture and social issues to share varying perspectives and experiences. Jackson will also work with the Sacramento Kings to create live entertainment experiences at Golden 1 Center.

The Sacramento Kings have signed forward Chima Moneke, according to General Manager Monte McNair. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

During the 2021-22 campaign, Moneke competed in 52 games for BAXI Manresa, averaging 14.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 23.5 minutes per game. The 6-6 forward earned Basketball Champions League MVP honors averaging 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 22.2 minutes per contest over 15 games, helping his team advance to the Basketball Champions League semifinals.

Moneke, who played collegiately at UC Davis, averaged 16.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in 28.3 minutes per game through 57 games with the Aggies from 2015-18.

The NBA announced today that forward Keegan Murray has been named the 2K23 Summer League 2022 Most Valuable Player, as selected by a panel of media. Along with earning MVP honors, the NBA announced Murray as an All-Summer League First Team selection.

Murray started all four games he appeared in at Summer League, averaging 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 31.9 minutes per game. Selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Murray converted 50.0% of his field goal attempts while also shooting 40.0% from 3-point range. He finished with the highest scoring average by a top-10 pick at Summer League in Las Vegas since 2012.

An Iowa native, Murray also made three appearances during the 2022 California Classic Summer League, accruing averages of 19.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in 30.1 minutes per game. Across seven Summer League contests, the 6-8 forward posted 21.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 31.2 minutes per outing.

We caught up with Kings big man Domantas Sabonis at NBA Summer League to get his assessment of the newest members of the team and find out what he’s been up to this offseason. 

Why was it important for you to be here to support the Kings Summer League team?

Just to come out here and show the young guys -- especially Keegan -- that we're serious. We're serious about this year, and we want to get that chemistry going on early.

And how would you assess his performance so far?

He's playing great. I love his game, and I think he's a perfect fit for us. I'm just really excited to get to training camp and get things going. 

What advice would you give him as he begins to navigate his rookie season?

Just to stay positive. Our coaches have been saying good things about him, that he's always on one level, so that's good. But just there's a lot of big things to do this year, and we need him to be on his A-game.

What about the new guys – Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk – how do you think they will help the team take the next step?

I'm really excited for them. I mean, I'm really excited. I think they're great. We have shooting -- we needed shooting. So, as a passing big man, I'm very excited.

And how excited are you to play under coach Mike Brown? How do you think his experience is going to help the team?

Oh, I'm very excited. He's got a lot of experience, and he just came off of winning a couple rings. He's been at the top. You know, he's seen what you got to do. So, if he can implement those things with us, starting early, it's going to be good.

What are some things you’ve been working on this offseason?

It's a bit of everything. I'm talking to the coaching staff, they're telling me where they're going to want me to be placed on the court. So just trying to perfect those spots.

What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

We're going to take it one game at a time. But our goal is to make this our summer. We’ve got to get together, keep working together. And we're going to try to win as many games as possible.
