In a trade that very few around the NBA expected, the Jazz sent second-leading scorer Bojan Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for center/forward Kelly Olynyk, guard Saben Lee and cash considerations.

Among that group is Lee, a former second round pick in the 2020 NBA draft who’s now returning to where it all began — sort of.

Here are five things to know about the athletic and quick guard, Lee:

1.) Late-Bloomer In High SchoolMost NBA players have the makings of being stars early in their respective athletic careers. From the moment they walk into the high school gym, coaches and players know who they are and what they can do. 

For Lee, that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

He went from being a backup guard as a sophomore to a first-team All-State member as a junior — an extremely impressive jump. After averaging 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, he committed to Vanderbilt following his junior season. 

2.) Rising Star At VanderbiltUnlike in high school, Lee arrived at Vanderbilt and made an immediate impact. 

As a three-star prospect, he earned the starting point guard spot right away and put up 10.6 points, 3.1 assists, and a team-leading 1.2 steals per game. After similar numbers as a sophomore, he broke out the following season as a junior.&nbsp;

With Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers) off to the NBA, Lee took over the Commodores and averaged 18.6 points, 4.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. His breakout game came against Alabama when he finished with 38 points, eight rebounds, and five assists — all while going against elite NBA defender Herb Jones (New Orleans).&nbsp;

Lee was named second-team All-SEC and then declared for the NBA draft.

3.) Coming HomeAlthough Lee spent the first two years of his NBA career in Detroit, it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the Jazz. 

He was originally drafted by Utah with the No. 38 pick in the 2020 draft but was traded to Detroit as the Jazz recouped Elijah Hughes in return.&nbsp;

While it’s a near-lock that Lee would’ve been drafted regardless of Utah, it’s a full-circle moment for the third-year player to return to the team that initially called his name. 

4.) Strong Finish To Second SeasonWith the Pistons firmly out of the playoff picture last season, it allowed Lee to showcase his skills towards the end of the year. 

Over the final three games, he took advantage of the opportunity by averaging 11.0 points, 8.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 28.3 minutes per game.&nbsp;

While it was just a small sample size, it was proof of Lee’s growth throughout his first two years in the league and how he’s beginning to scratch the surface of his immense potential.

5.) Athletic LineageAfter entering the NBA as one of the most explosive and impressive athletes in the 2020 draft class, Lee has more than lived up to that billing. But it is no surprise considering the remarkable athleticism in his family genes. 

Lee’s father, Amp, is a Super Bowl-winning running back with the then-St. Louis Rams. After starring at Florida State, Amp played in the NFL for nine seasons, which included catching Joe Montana’s final TD pass.&nbsp;

Lee’s cousin is Trent Forrest, a former Utah Jazz guard.

Welcome to the snowy mountains, Kelly Olynyk.

Among that group is Olynyk, a former NCAA All-American and NBA veteran who's one of the premier mentors in the league.

Here are five things to know about the man with the flowing hair, Olynyk:

1.) Coming From CanadaBefore making his mark in college, Olynyk didn't play high school basketball in the states.&nbsp;

Rather than make the jump to America, Olynyk stayed in Canada for high school. As a senior, he was named the Basketball BC outstanding high school player of the year, leading South Kamloops to a 36–2 record and a third-place finish at the BC AAA High School Boys Basketball Championships.

However, he wasn't a complete unknown to American competition. He got exposure on the AAU circuit,&nbsp; eventually putting himself on the radar of college coaches.&nbsp;

2.) All-American BulldogDespite being recruited by Syracuse, Providence, and North Carolina State, Olynyk chose Gonzaga for many reasons—one being because Spokane, Washington is just a few hours south of the Canadian border.&nbsp;

After rarely seeing the court as a freshman and sophomore, head coach Mark Few and Olynyk decided that he would redshirt his junior season to become more physically prepared for the remainder of his college career.&nbsp;

The following year, Olynyk was named a First-Team All-American after leading the program to its first-ever No. 1 national ranking. Although Gonzaga would fall in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Olynyk averaged 17.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

3.) First Round PickOlynyk parlayed his final season as a Bulldog into a first-round selection in the NBA draft, being chosen No. 13 overall by Dallas before being traded to Boston.&nbsp;

He emerged as an ideal player in today's NBA, averaging 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds in just 20 minutes per game while shooting 35.1% from beyond the arc. That led to him being named to the All-Rookie Second Team and suiting up in the 2014 Rising Stars Game.

Olynyk dropped a career-high 30 points in a 105-87 win over Philadelphia.

4.) Elite IntangiblesEntering his 10th season in the league, Olynyk is out to prove that he can still play in today's NBA.

While his skillset still makes him a hot commodity — a career 36.5% shooter from three-point territory as a 6-foot-11 center — his other intangibles made him extremely valuable to the Jazz.&nbsp;

Already known as a sensational mentor to younger players in the league, it's widely believed within the Jazz organization that Olynyk will positively influence Utah's younger players — namely Jarred Vanderbilt, Walker Kessler, Udoka Azubuike, and Lauri Markkanen.

His hard-nosed defense and willingness to sacrifice for the greater good make him ideal in new head coach Will Hardy's system and should allow Olynyk to thrive in Utah.&nbsp;

5.) Point Guard?Despite being a tough and physical player who can shoot from beyond the arc, Olynyk is also a very talented passer. He uses his size to his advantage, able to see over smaller players and find the open man consistently.&nbsp;

But how did someone 6-foot-11 come to have a valued skill typically reserved for point guards? It's because Olynyk originally trained as a point guard growing up.&nbsp;

He entered his junior season of high school at 6-foot-3 and his team's starting point guard — but by the time he arrived back as a senior, he stood 6-foot-10. Still, he never lost his guard skills, an attribute he continues to refine these days.

A key free-agent signing before the 19/20 season, the Clutch Croatian was immediately embraced by the Jazz fanbase with his strong work ethic, obvious love of the game, and ability to hit a memorable game-winning shot.&nbsp;

Bogey averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists throughout his career in Utah, shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 39.7 percent beyond the arc. The fan-favorite was one of the greatest shooters to put on a Jazz jersey, ranking in the top-10 of multiple shooting categories.

He’s ranked No. 5 (189, 2019-20) and 10 (181, 2021-22) in most three-pointers made in a single-season, and No. 3 in free throw percentage (90.3%, 2019-20). He leaves Utah ranked thid in free throw percentage (88.0 percent), fifth in made three-pointers (550), and No. 10 in points per game (18.4).

Throughout his three seasons in Utah, Bogey played in 204 regular season games and 17 playoff games, starting every one of them. Since he joined the team, the Jazz compiled a 145-81 record (.642 winning percentage) and advanced to the playoffs every season.

His first season in the mountains was a special year after he averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game while shooting 41.4% from beyond the arc and 90.3% from the free-throw line. Unfortunately, he didn’t join the team in the NBA bubble for the playoffs due to wrist surgery, ending his season.

Coming off surgery, Bogey’s 20/21 season started out slow, but finished strong. He averaged 17.0 points on 39% shooting from deep, and helped lead Utah to the best regular season record in the NBA and the number one seed in the Western Conference.

Finally healthy, Bogdanovic rebounded with a phenomenal showing last season. He averaged 18.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, shooting 45.5% from the floor and 38.7% from three-point territory. The chants of “BOGEY, BOGEY, BOGEY” from the 21/22 playoffs still resonate throughout Vivint Arena.&nbsp;

Included in his highlights are a career-high 48 points against Denver on May 5, 2021, and a playoff career-high 32 points against the Clippers later that postseason.&nbsp;

With one of the best moments of last season, Bogey smashed the Jazz record for most three-pointers made in a game with 11 on March 6 at Oklahoma City.&nbsp;

While his time in Utah is best known for his basketball acumen, Bogey was admired for many other reasons.

Normally stoic on the court, it was well-known that he was one of the funniest guys in the locker room. His quips and one-liners were the stuff of legends and rarely seen by the outside world.&nbsp;

But the underrated part of his game: his walk-in fits.

The "Croatian Assassin" rocked the sleek tracksuits and velour with precision, making him one of the sharpest dressers on the team, and in the league.

In what has become one of the biggest offseason trades, the Jazz sent three-time all-star Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for multiple unprotected first-round picks and a bevy of young and talented players.

Among that group is Agbaji, the Big-12 Player of the Year and a first-round pick out of Kansas.

Here are five things to know about the national champion, Agbaji:

1.) Late-Blooming ProspectBefore Agbaji emerged as one of the best college basketball players in the country, he was a little-known prospect out of Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Growing up a dual-sport athlete in both soccer and basketball, Agbaji gave up the grass for the hardwood as a sophomore and never looked back.

After not receiving any Power-5 offers through his junior season, he broke out in a massive way as a senior. He averaged 27.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, was named the Kansas City Star All-Metro Player of the Year and was labeled a three-star recruit.

Despite his three-star ranking, Agbaji committed to play at Kansas over Wisconsin and Texas A&M.

2.) Unexpected Freshman YearWhen Agbaji originally got to Kansas, the plan was to redshirt as the Jayhawks already had Udoka Azubuike and Silvio De Sousa on the roster. But an injury to Azubuike and eligibility concerns around De Sousa forced Kansas to burn Agbaji’s redshirt for some much-needed depth.

Nearly a week later, Agbaji made his first career start and dropped 24 points, seven rebounds, and two steals against Texas. He then had his first career double-double the next game against No. 16 Texas Tech, being named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

3.) Sensational Senior SeasonAfter declaring for the NBA draft following his junior year, Agbaji withdrew his name and elected to return to campus for one more season — and what a great decision it was.

He opened up the season by dropping 29 points in a statement victory over Michigan State and a career-high 37 points in a win over No. 13 Texas Tech. He also averaged 18.7 points per game, leading the Jayhawks to the Big 12 Tournament title.

He led Kansas to a national title, racking up numerous awards and accolades. He was named the Big 12 Player of the Year, consensus First-Team All-American, and the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player after averaging 18.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

4.) Impressive Career ArcFrom when Agbaji stepped onto the court as a freshman to when he left as a senior four years later, the amount of growth in his game was nothing short of impressive.

He went from averaging 8.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as a freshman to 18.8 and 5.1 rebounds per game as a senior. While those numbers were expected to increase, considering he went from 25.9 minutes as a freshman to 35.1 as a senior, hit shooting numbers showcased where he improved the most.

He improved his shot from three-point territory every season, going from 30.7% as a freshman to 40.7% as a senior — proving his value as a legit 3-and-D forward in the league.

5.) Athletic LineageAgbaji finding success at every stage of his athletic career comes as no surprise considering he grew up in a household full of athletes.

His parents, Olofu and Erica, played basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His older sister Orie was one of the best prep volleyball players in the nation before suiting up at Texas.

Here are five things to know about the sharp-shooting big man, Markkanen:

1.) Finnish Youth StarSince he was a young kid in Finland, there have been talks about Markkanen's abilities and prowess on the basketball court.

He proved as much, playing professional basketball for HBA-Märsky in the Finnish second-tier league as a 17-year-old. It allowed him to get some much-needed experience and see what it was like to play against grown men, preparing him for the physical nature of college basketball and life in the league.

2.) Fantastic Freshman SeasonMarkkanen surprised quite a few people when he elected to leave Finland to play college ball in the states, signing with Arizona.

Dubbed the "greatest shooting 7-footer ever in college" by multiple outlets, he more than lived up to the billing in his lone season as a Wildcat. He averaged 15.6 points — including a career-high 30 against in-state rival Arizona State — and 7.2 rebounds per game on 42.3% shooting from three-point territory.

When the lights shone brightest, Markkanen played his best — averaging 20 points while shooting 47.1% from beyond the arc, leading the Wildcats to the Pac-12 Tournament title. He became more well-rounded in the three games of the NCAA Tournament, averaging 15 points and 8.3 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field.

He was named First-Team All-Pac-12 and Third-Team All-American.

3.) Promising PotentialIt took Markkanen precisely five games in the NBA to prove his worth. He averaged 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds on 41.7% shooting from deep, including two double-doubles in the opening month.

He ended his rookie season averaging 19.4 points per game in the final month, being named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and setting himself up for a bright second season.

In the best year of his career, Markkanen averaged 18.7 points and 9.0 rebounds in 32.3 minutes per game in his second season — all of which were career-highs.

After a myriad of injuries in the past couple of years, Markkanen is finally healthy and resembling his old self — an excellent sign for Jazz fans.

4.) Extensive National CareerMarkkanen announced himself to the world when he first appeared for the Finnish Junior National team at the 2015 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, leading the team with 18.2 points per game.

He proved it wasn't a fluke at the 2016 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, averaging a tournament-high 24.9 points per game while being named to the All-Tournament team.

Markkanen was promoted to the Senior National team in 2017, playing at EuroBasket 2017. He led Finland to the round of 16 after averaging 19.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in six games.

5.) Impressive LineageTo say Markkanen comes from an athletic family would be a massive understatement.

His parents, Pekka and Riikka Markkanen were both professional basketball players — with Pekka being named the Finnish Basketball Player of the Year in 1989, 1993, and 1996.

He also has two brothers, both of whom are professional athletes. Miikka is a former professional basketball player, while Eero is a professional soccer player for HIFK.

Among that group is Sexton, a former first-round pick out of Alabama who has really blossomed the past couple of years.

Here are five things to know about the explosive guard, Sexton:

1.) Alabama LegendBefore Sexton became one of the premier young guards in the NBA, he was making national headlines as a freshman guard at Alabama.

During an early-season game against No. 14 Minnesota, Sexton finished with a career-high 40 points, adding six rebounds and five assists. While the stat line alone is impressive, what happened during the game is what made him a legend in Tuscaloosa.

Those numbers came with the Crimson Tide playing with just three players for almost the entire second half. Due to foul trouble and ejections, Sexton was forced to play 3-on-5 against Minnesota and nearly led Alabama to the win before falling 89-84.

2.) McDonald’s All-AmericanEven before Sexton’s legendary exploits at Alabama, he thrived in the state of Georgia as a high school basketball phenom.

After attending Hillgrove High School for his first two years, Sexton transferred to Pebblebrook High School for his last two years and found instant success, leading the team to the state title game.

He parlayed that success into a five-star ranking by all recruiting websites, becoming a consensus top-10 player and one of the best guards in the nation.

3.) Impressive College SeasonAlthough Sexton only played one year at Alabama, he made the absolute most of it.

Apart from the game against Minnesota, Sexton averaged 19.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, leading the Crimson Tide to a top-25 national ranking.

Most impressively, his game elevated every time the lights shone brightest. In five postseason games — SEC and NCAA Tournament — Sexton averaged 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and made the All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Tournament First Team.

4.) All-Time Rookie YearAfter being taken with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, Sexton more than lived up to the billing for the rebuilding Cavaliers.

He played in all 82 games, quickly becoming a starter (72 games) as the team’s point guard and averaging 16.7 points per game on 40.2% shooting from beyond the arc.

Sexton quickly proved that he was a future star in the making as he became the first rookie to score 23+ points in seven consecutive games since Tim Duncan did so in 1998. He was also the only rookie in league history to amass 2,000+ minutes while averaging 16+ points per game, 40%+ shooting from deep, and less than three turnovers per game.

He was named to the 2020 Rising Stars All-Star game, finishing with 21 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

5.) Bright FutureBefore a knee injury derailed his year last season, Sexton looked like one of the legit up-and-coming guards in the league.

He averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game on 37.1% shooting from deep. His ability to positively affect the game in transition, create his own shot or ones for teammates and knock down three-pointers proved why he was a near all-star selection that season.

Fully recovered from the knee injury, Sexton is poised for a massive year and should be a major contributor for Jazz teams in the present and beyond.

Five Things To Know About Utah's Newest Scorer: Collin Sexton

Farewell to the superstar with a huge heart.&nbsp;

Since Mitchell joined the Jazz, the three-time All-Star has embraced the organization, and not just Salt Lake City, but the entire state as a whole.

“The Jazz had so many great moments with Donovan over the past five years as he developed into a perennial All-Star,” Owner Ryan Smith said. “But just as important was the lasting impact he made in Utah. He is an amazing human and touched the lives of so many through his engagement in the community. Our entire organization wishes him every success in his future. Once a Jazzman, always a Jazzman.”

The connection between Mitchell and the organization began before the team ever acquired the guard.

As the Jazz prepared for the 2017 NBA Draft, Mitchell took part in one of the team’s first Draft workouts of the offseason.

“I wanted to work out for the Jazz. … I love the organization,” Michell said in 2017.&nbsp;

As a Jazzman, Mitchell’s accolades are inarguable, as one of only two players from the 2017 Draft to be named an All-Star in three of their first five seasons (Boston's Jayson Tatum is the other).

He has averaged 23.9 points, 4.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game on 44.1% shooting from the floor and 36.1% from three-point territory. Among his career accolades, Mitchell won the 2018 Slam Dunk contest, was First-Team All-Rookie, and named the Western Conference Player of the Month in December 2021.

Quickly climbing up the franchise record books, Mitchell currently ranks No. 8 in points scored (8,234), No. 4 in points per game (23.9), No. 2 in made three-pointers (958), No. 9 in minutes per game (33.7), No. 8 in assists per game (4.5), No. 9 in steals per game (1.3), and No. 2 in usage percentage (31.4).

For postseason totals, he ranks No. 4 in points (1,073), No. 7 in assists (175), and No. 9 in steals (45). He also owns Utah's all-time single-season three-point record, knocking down 232 last season.

Throughout his five seasons in Utah, Mitchell played in 345 regular season games (337 starts) and 39 postseason games (all starts). Since he joined the team, the Jazz have compiled a 218-127 record (.632 winning percentage), while advancing to the playoffs every season of his career.

A heart as big as his superstar status, Mitchell has championed social justice and education, using his platform to speak out against racism and inequity.&nbsp;

More than anything, he backed up his words with generosity.&nbsp;

He pledged $12 million to Greenwich Country Day (his alma mater and the school where his mother taught for over a decade). He gave all the proceeds from sales of his Adidas basketball sneakers D.O.N. Issue #2 x Louisville (up to $200,000) to provide scholarships and academic initiatives for black students at the University of Louisville.

He was awarded the Offseason NBA Cares Community Assist Award for his work in the summer of 2020.

Mitchell is one of the most beloved players in Jazz history and is well-known for signing autographs before and after games. Instead of rushing to the locker room after the final buzzer, he would often linger on the court to ensure fans got the signature they were so desperately seeking.&nbsp;

His work with children is almost second-to-none in the league. It's not rare for Mitchell to pull a fan from the stands and have them pass him the ball throughout warmups, giving the child a once-in-a-lifetime experience.&nbsp;

While Mitchell's departure will undoubtedly leave a hole in the hearts of Jazz fans everywhere, his legacy will continue to live on. He’ll forever be a Jazzman.&nbsp;

In a deal that sent shockwaves throughout the league, Utah traded Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers for guards Ochai Agbaji (OCH-eye uh-BAH-gee), Collin Sexton, forward Lauri Markkanen (LAU-ree MARK-a-nin), future first round picks, and future first round draft swaps.

"It was clear that in order to optimize our opportunity to create a team that could truly contend and establish sustained success, we needed to transition our roster,” said Jazz CEO of Basketball Danny Ainge. “In trading Rudy and now Donovan, it was a rare opportunity to maximize our ability to get quality talent and picks to best position us moving forward. We have a plan in place to help us assemble the championship team our fans deserve. It will take time to craft our roster. We all understand the work ahead and are committed to our vision."

Just under a month before players report to Salt Lake City for training camp, Utah has welcomed two new players.

In a trade that sent Pat Beverley (acquired from Minnesota in the Rudy Gobert trade) to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Jazz have now added Stanley Johnson and Talen Horton-Tucker to their roster.&nbsp;

Here are five things to know about the stingy wing defender, Johnson.

1.) High School All-AmericanBack in 2014, Johnson was widely considered one of the top basketball players in the country. Gifted with great size, strength, and unreal athleticism, he was rated a 5-star prospect by multiple outlets out of legendary Mater Dei High School. 

He scored 2,285 career points at Mater Dei, the third-highest mark in school history.

As a senior, he played in the McDonald's All-American Boys Game, Jordan Brand Classic, and the Nike Hoop Summit. He was also named a first-team All-American by multiple outlets and selected as California's Mr. Basketball, given annually to the top basketball player from the state. 

2.) Success As A WildcatAlways considered a one-and-done prospect, Johnson didn't disappoint in his lone season with Arizona. 

After averaging 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, he was named to the All-Pac-12 first team while earning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors.

Starting alongside future pros TJ McConnell (Indiana Pacers) and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Johnson helped lead the Wildcats to the Elite Eight as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. His blend of athleticism and defensive prowess proved ideal at the college level and showed why he was such a high-level NBA prospect.

3.) Former Lottery PickIt's no surprise that Johnson parlayed all of his early success into a lottery pick, being chosen by the Detroit Pistons with the No. 8 selection in 2015. 

He had a successful rookie season, coming off the bench to average 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He took a step forward in his third year, becoming a starter for the Pistons after averaging a career-high 8.7 points and 1.4 steals while adding 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists. 

Johnson was then traded to New Orleans at the midway point of his 2018-19 season before bouncing around with the Toronto Raptors and Lakers the next few years.&nbsp;
