ABOUT
The UTAH JAZZ is looking for local artists for a live-painting installation at Vivint Smart Home Arena in downtown Salt Lake City from July 1–3 during the Salt Lake City Summer League. This is an opportunity for local artists to share their love of this community with local and visiting fans attending the three-day event. This call is open to all professional artists, artist teams, illustrators, and designers residing in Utah. Those new to the public art process or artists and designers working outside of the traditional public art process are also highly encouraged to apply. Selected artists will be expected to complete their painting/illustration during their allotted date and time with their artwork on display during the event.

DETAILS
Each artist will activate a 4x4-foot cube (a total of four 4x4-foot panels) that will be located either inside the arena on the concourse or outside the arena on the plaza. The cubes will be provided. The goal is to express different aspects of Salt Lake City with the intent to show off our city to those who are visiting for the event.

REVIEW PROCESS / CRITERIA
The selection committee will be comprised of Utah Jazz staff members. This committee will select six different artists or artist teams based on the provided portfolio of previous work. The entry deadline will be June 18, and the artists who are selected will be notified by June 24. The selected artists will be required to sign an agreement with the Utah Jazz before participating in the event. As outlined in the agreement, the Utah Jazz will retain all right, title, and interest (including the intellectual property rights) in the art work created at the event.

THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS CONSIDERED WHEN SELECTING ARTISTS:

• innovative, playful and original artwork
• enhances community identity and sense of place
• stimulates creativity and excellence in urban design and public art

COMPENSATION
Each artist will be paid $450, which is inclusive of the artist's fee(s) and related expenses for the design/creation of the final artwork at the time of the event.
