SALT LAKE CITY (November 21, 2014) – The 16th annual “We Care – We Share” Thanksgiving Dinner for local homeless and low-income residents will take place at EnergySolutions Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The annual event is part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving and demonstrates Miller Sports Properties’ ongoing commitment to service and year-round community outreach.

In collaboration with the Salt Lake City Mission, Utah Food Services and All-Star Catering, the Miller family and Miller Sports Properties employees will roll up their sleeves alongside Hill Air Force Base personnel to serve a warm Thanksgiving meal to thousands of residents in need. Last year’s event provided a record 4,060 meals.

“The holidays are a time for fellowship and cheer, and our family has been blessed to be able to provide a festive gathering and hot meals for the last 16 years to Salt Lake residents who are experiencing hardships,” said Gail Miller, owner, Larry H. Miller Group of Companies.

The annual gathering will also feature a winter clothing distribution, musical entertainment courtesy of the Salt Lake City Mission and activity packets for children. The Zone Sports Network will be present for the dinner via a live radio remote from the concourse.

“Partnering with the Miller family and these fine organizations to meet the needs of thousands of the most vulnerable men, women and children in the Greater Salt Lake Region has become a special tradition,” said Pastor Wayne Wilson, executive director, Salt Lake City Mission. “Working together as neighbors helping neighbors we set the example before this community. Together we are fighting poverty, and together we can accomplish so much more.”

This marks one of many upcoming holiday community outreach events.  As part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving, the entire Jazz organization will spend time giving back to the community and brightening the holidays for thousands of local children and families in need through a variety of hands-on service events and activities. Additional outreach efforts will include Bear Hugs for Kids holiday shopping for underprivileged Utah youth, hospital visits by Jazz players and coaching staff, the 30th annual Christmas Carole Sing-Along, and much more.
