Utah Jazz to host free 'Meet the Team' event on Oct. 4

Can’t wait for our first game back at Vivint Smart Home Arena?

Neither can we.

The Utah Jazz tip off the preseason next, but fans are invited to get a sneak peek at this year’s roster at our free Meet the Team event on Friday, Oct. 4.

The night, part of the “Road to Tipoff” presented by KUTV, will be fans’ first chance to see Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic in their new Utah Jazz jerseys. Jazz center Rudy Gobert will receive his 2018-19 Defensive Player of the Year trophy during the event. And Donovan Mitchell may get the chance to avenge his 3-point shootout defeat of a year ago.

Fans do not need tickets for the event. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Free parking will be available at Park Place, the lot located northeast of the main arena entrance.

Last year, thousands of Jazz fans were treated to a night with forward Joe Ingles acting as emcee, interviews with players and coaches, and a rookie dance-off. This year, activities will include a shooting relay, a 3-point shootout and a game of knockout.

Jazz broadcasters Craig Bolerjack be this year’s master of ceremonies and sideline reporter Kristen Kenney will be on hand to interview players.

Junior Jazz youth and members of the Jazz’s wheelchair basketball team, the Wheelin’ Jazz, will also participate in some of the activities on the court.

The Jazz will begin their preseason schedule the following night when the team hosts the Adelaide 36ers.
