Public Invited to Free Utah Jazz Open Scrimmage on Oct. 8 at Vivint Arena

First Opportunity for Fans to See In Person Head Coach Will Hardy, Roster of New and Returning Players, and Black Basketball Court

The Utah Jazz announced today an invitation for fans to attend the free Utah Jazz Open Scrimmage at 11 a.m. (MT) on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Vivint Arena for a firsthand look at the 2022-23 team.

The event will include on-court interviews with head coach Will Hardy and select Jazz players, appearances by Jazz Bear and the Jazz Dancers, and the first-time reveal of one of two new basketball courts. The open scrimmage will also be streamed live on UtahJazz.com and the Utah Jazz YouTube channel.

“We are excited to welcome fans back to Vivint Arena for a first look at this new beginning of Jazz basketball,” said Jim Olson, president of the Utah Jazz. “We always look forward to bringing the community together around our team, and the intersquad scrimmage will be a fun way to kick off the new season with everyone invited.”

Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. with general admission seating. The scrimmage is free to the public and does not require a ticket. Complimentary parking is available at Park Place, which is located northeast of the main arena entrance. Select concession stands will be open on the main concourse.

The open scrimmage will serve as an opportunity for Jazz fans to get an up-close look at the 2022-23 team, including Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay along with newcomers Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Kelly Olynyk, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. Jazz head coach Will Hardy and the coaching staff will lead the scrimmage.

The entire Utah Jazz roster will be introduced on the court with each player accompanied by two Junior Jazz youth in recognition of Jr. NBA Week, taking place Oct. 8-14. The one-hour event will not include photograph or autograph stations for fans.

With the debut of the new court, the iconic Jazz Note is featured in the center with a black apron and yellow UTAH JAZZ wordmark. The wood paneling is uniquely angled rather than the typical horizontal look, flowing in conjunction with the Jazz Note that is rendered in chrome.

The Jazz will be playing preseason home games at Vivint Arena on Oct. 11 vs. San Antonio and Oct. 14 against Dallas. The regular season and home opener is Oct. 19 against Denver. Tickets and information on the upcoming Jazz season are available at www.utahjazz.com.
