Jazz and Western Governors University to Grant Four Individuals Free Tuition for One Year

SALT LAKE CITY (December 27, 2013) – The Utah Jazz and Western Governors University (WGU) are teaming up this season to grant free tuition to four students for one year at WGU. The program tipped off on Dec. 27 and continues through March 30, 2014.

“With tuition of about $6,000 per year and financial aid available, WGU offers an affordable option for adults returning to college,” said Patrick Partridge, WGU’s chief marketing officer. “This contest in partnership with the Jazz is a great way for us to spread the word about WGU here in Utah.”

Candidates may log on to www.utahjazz.com/wgufreetuition to complete and submit an official entry form. To be eligible to win, applicants must apply for and be admitted to Western Governors University. Upon contest entry, candidates will be provided an application fee waiver. Four winners will be selected randomly throughout the duration of the contest. In addition to receiving free tuition for one year, the four winners will also receive on-court recognition during the final Jazz regular season home game on April 14, 2014.

“The Utah Jazz are proud to join WGU to give four lucky winners free tuition for one year,” said Randy Rigby, Utah Jazz president. “The Jazz organization places great value on education and we are thrilled to help members of our community further their academic endeavors.”

Online and nonprofit, WGU has more than 40,000 students nationwide and offers accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business, teacher education, information technology, and health professions, including nursing. WGU’s competency-based learning model, which allows students to study and learn at their own pace, is ideal for busy adults.
