Jazz Unveils New Colors and Additional Logo

SALT LAKE CITY (June 15, 2010) – Utah Jazz president Randy Rigby unveiled new team colors and an additional logo today at a public press conference held in the ticket lobby of EnergySolutions Arena.

The new colors (navy, yellow, green and gray) reflect an updated version of the team’s original music note logo which dates back to the Jazz’s inception in New Orleans. The music note, which was the Jazz’s primary logo from 1979-1996, now becomes Utah’s secondary logo.

“Over the past few years we’ve heard a resounding sentiment among our fans to bring back the music note,” said Rigby. “For many fans in the community, it was the logo they grew up watching the Jazz play in. And while we will keep our primary mountain logo, we look forward to implementing the music note while uniting our past and future.”

Since 1974, there have now been five variations of the Jazz logo. From 1974-1996, the franchise used the team’s original music note logo with “New Orleans” and “Utah” word marks. In 1996, the current mountain logo was introduced. This will be the third version of the mountain logo, which has now seen three different color schemes.

In addition to today’s announcement, the Jazz will launch newly designed team uniforms on Monday, August 16.

Team merchandise, featuring the new colors and secondary logo, is now available exclusively at Fanzz, the official team store of the Utah Jazz. Fanzz has nine locations along the Wasatch Front, from Ogden to Provo, as well as fanzz.com.
