by Bill Lea

The Jazz lost the first two games of the 1997 NBA Finals in heartbreaking fashion and headed home for game three in front of a raucous Delta Center crowd. The Jazz were out of the gates hot leading by nine points after the first quarter. Utah didn't let up and stretched their lead to as many as 17 points after three quarters. John Stockton orchestrated the Jazz to perfection scoring 17 points and dishing out 12 assists while Karl Malone was dominant scoring 37 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. The Jazz went on to win 104-93 to give the franchise its first ever Finals victory. Scottie Pippen tied an NBA record with seven three pointers made, finishing the game with 27 points.
