This Day in Jazz History - May 19, 1997

by Bill Lea

The Jazz set the tone of the conference finals early as they beat the #3-seed Rockets 101-86 in game one. Despite Hakeem Olajuwon scoring 30 points and grabbing 13 rebounds the Jazz trio of Malone, Stockton and Hornacek combined for 56 points to lead the Jazz to victory. The #1-seed Jazz would go on to win the series in six games after the most memorable shot in Jazz history fell in Houston. The Jazz eventually lost to Chicago in six games in the NBA Finals.
