As the Utah Jazz celebrate their 50th anniversary this season, it’s a great time to reflect on the long and proud history of the nine coaches who’ve been the leading man of the Jazz.&nbsp;

From Scotty Robertson in 1974 to Will Hardy in 2022, the Jazz have been blessed with some of the greatest coaches in league history throughout their rich history. Read below for a look back at each coach, and see how the Jazz got to this point in history.&nbsp;

6.) Jerry Sloan | 1988-2011The winningest coach in Jazz history and one of the greatest coaches the league has ever seen, Sloan was revolutionary in Utah as he helped lead the Jazz to their two NBA finals appearances.&nbsp;

Sloan's basketball career took off in college when he became a three-time Indiana Collegiate Player of the Year at Evansville, leading the Purple Aces to back-to-back Division II national titles. After being drafted twice prior, Sloan became the "Original Bull" when he was chosen by Chicago in the 1966 NBA expansion draft.&nbsp;

After beginning his coaching career at Evansville, Sloan lasted just five days before withdrawing. He joined the Bulls as a scout in 1977 before being promoted to assistant coach the following year. One year later, he was promoted to head coach in 1979 when he led the Bulls for three years.&nbsp;

After being fired in Chicago, Sloan headed to the Mountain West, where he joined the Jazz as a scout before working his way up to assistant coach. When Layden became president of the Jazz after retiring from coaching, he hired Sloan as the leading man — where he ran the show for 23 years, including an NBA-record 16-straight playoff appearances.

Following a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia in April 2016, Sloan passed away on May 22, 2020, at 78 years old.&nbsp;

7.) Tyrone Corbin | 2011-14Another NBA veteran who transitioned into coaching, Corbin took over for Sloan as head coach of the Jazz in 2011., Turns out that was just the start of a long coaching career;he's currently an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets.&nbsp;

Following a four-year career at DePaul University, Corbin became a second-round pick of the Spurs in 1985. He then had a 15-year NBA career, playing for 10 different teams — including a three-year stint with the Jazz from 1991-94.&nbsp;

Corbin's coaching career began with the New York Knicks as manager of player development in 2003. After one season, Corbin also came out to the Mountain West, where he joined Sloan's staff, becoming one of his most trusted assistants for seven years. Upon Sloan's resignation, Corbin was promoted to head coach, leading Utah through the 2013-14 season.&nbsp;

After Utah elected to not renew his contract, Corbin joined Sacramento's staff under Mike Malone before being promoted to interim head coach for three months during the 2014-15 season. He was relieved of his duties, but chose to stay with the organization as an advisor to the front office.&nbsp;

He returned to the NBA scene, joining Phoenix's staff in 2016. Two years later, he joined&nbsp; the Orlando Magic’s assistant coaching staff for three years before joining Charlotte's staff in 2022.&nbsp;

8.) Quin Snyder | 2014-22After a three-year playing career under the legendary Mike Krzyewski at Duke, Snyder parlayed that tutelage into an NBA coaching career that's still ongoing.&nbsp;

Snyder&nbsp; graduated from Duke with a double major in philosophy and political science in 1989 and then received a J.D. and M.B.A. degree from Duke in 1995. He also made his coaching debut in 1992 as an assistant coach for the LA Clippers. He joined Coach K's staff at Duke in 1993, serving as an assistant for four years before being promoted to associate head coach in 1997.&nbsp;

Snyder got his break in 1999, getting the call to lead the Missouri Tigers. He did so for seven seasons before resigning in 2006, not knowing if he was leaving&nbsp; coaching for good. After some reflection,&nbsp; he took over as head coach of the Austin Toros of the NBA Developmental League in 2007. Following a three-year run, he joined the 76ers as a player development coach for the&nbsp; [specific year] season before heading to the Lakers as an assistant coach the following season.&nbsp;

Snyder took a year off from the NBA in 2012, heading over to Russia to serve as an assistant head coach for CSKA Moscow under Ettore Messina. After a successful season, he returned to the States and was named the head assistant coach with the Hawks. One year later, Snyder was hired by the Jazz, kicking&nbsp; off an extremely successful eight-year stint in Utah.&nbsp;

He's currently the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.&nbsp;
