Steve Martin to Return to Hornets Radio as Play-By-Play Announcer

April 23, 2015 – The Charlotte Hornets announced today that Steve Martin will return to the team’s radio broadcasts as play-by-play announcer after spending eight seasons as the team’s TV play-by-play voice on FOX Sports South and SportSouth. Martin, who will continue to coordinate the team’s radio network and broadcasts, previously served as the radio play-by-play announcer from 2004-07.  Additionally, Martin will serve as a contributing reporter for hornets.com.

The voice of the Charlotte Hornets since the inaugural season in 1988, Martin was the team’s radio play-by-play announcer from 1988-94 before moving to the television broadcasts from 1994-2002.

“Since the first season in 1988, the one constant to NBA broadcasts in Charlotte has been Steve Martin,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield.  “Steve started in radio and we look forward to having him back in this role moving forward.”
