October 3, 2019 – Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations & General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that the team has added Garrius Adams, Nick Friedman, Lauren McGuigan and Jordan Wilkes to the team’s Basketball Operations staff. Additionally, Kupchak announced Jordan Surenkamp has been named Head Video Coordinator, Justin Jordan has been named a Scout and Andrew Dozer has been named Coordinator of Basketball Administration.

Garrius Adams joins the Charlotte Hornets as an Assistant Video Coordinator after serving as a Basketball Operations Coaching Associate for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. Adams graduated from the University of Miami in 2014 after a four-year playing career for the Hurricanes. A North Carolina native, Adams played professional basketball in France and Belgium.

Nick Friedman joins the Charlotte Hornets as a Player Development Coach, where he will serve in a hybrid role with both the Hornets and Greensboro Swarm’s coaching staff. Friedman will accompany Hornets players on their assignments and transfers between the team and its G League affiliate. Friedman brings three years of coaching experience from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Maine Red Claws and Northern Arizona Suns of the NBA G League. Prior to his work in the G League, Friedman worked under the coaching staff at the University of Miami. The Massachusetts native attended Bates College where he was a member of the basketball team.

Lauren McGuigan enters her first season as Director of Sports Science for the team’s medical staff. Her experience includes Sports Science roles with the Oklahoma City Thunder and U.S. Soccer Federation. She also served on the strength and conditioning staffs at University of Washington and Wake Forest University. McGuigan earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from California Lutheran University in 2009. She earned her master’s degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of Montana in 2012.

Jordan Wilkes joins the Hornets basketball operations staff as a Scout. Wilkes comes to Charlotte after spending the last six seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The California native and University of California-Berkeley graduate spent four seasons on the Lakers Basketball Operations staff, including the last two years as the team’s Director of Player Development. Wilkes was a four-year player for the Bears at California.

Following his first year on Hornets Head Coach James Borrego’s staff, Jordan Surenkamp has been promoted from Assistant Video Coordinator to Head Video Coordinator. Surenkamp joined the organization last offseason after spending a year with the Brooklyn Nets and the G League’s Long Island Nets. Prior to Brooklyn, he spent four years at the University of South Alabama as a graduate assistant. Surenkamp played collegiately during his time at Wabash College in his home state of Indiana.

Additionally, Justin Jordan, who was an Assistant Video Coordinator for his first season with the Hornets last year, will now serve as a Scout in the Hornets Basketball Operations Staff. Andrew Dozer was named Coordinator of Basketball Administration and will enter his first full season in that capacity after previously serving the organization as a Basketball Operations Assistant and Basketball Operations Intern.
