August 8, 2016 – The Charlotte Hornets today announced their seven-game 2016-17 preseason schedule, which is highlighted by the previously-announced contest against the Boston Celtics in Greensboro, N.C., the home of the team’s new NBA D-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. The Hornets will also host two home games at Time Warner Cable Arena in the preseason, one against the Minnesota Timberwolves and one against the Miami Heat.

The Hornets will open preseason action against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, Oct. 3, at American Airlines Center. Charlotte will then participate in back-to-back matchups against the Celtics at the Greensboro Coliseum on Thursday, Oct. 6, and at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Sunday, Oct. 8.  The game in Greensboro will mark the ninth time that North Carolina’s NBA franchise has played a preseason game in the city, the most of any neutral site, and the first since announcing that its new NBA D-League team will begin play this season at the renovated fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

The Hornets will host their first preseason home game at Time Warner Cable Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 10, against the Minnesota Timberwolves.  After a week layoff, the team returns to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 17, when they visit the United Center to take on the Chicago Bulls.  The Hornets end the preseason with back-to-back games at home against the Miami Heat on Thursday, Oct. 20, and on the road at the Target Center against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, Oct. 21.

Tickets for Hornets home preseason games will go on sale on Tuesday, Aug. 9, and can be purchased at the Time Warner Cable Arena box office, online at hornets.com or ticketmaster.com, on the Hornets Mobile App, or via phone at 1-800-4NBA-TIX.  Tickets for the game in Greensboro are on sale now and can be purchased at the same locations, along with the Greensboro Coliseum box office.
