Pre-Draft Workout #5

In preparation for the 2023 NBA Draft on June 22, the Charlotte Hornets hosted a pre-draft workout on Tuesday, May 30 featuring the following players:

Tyree Appleby (G, Wake Forest)

Appleby (6-1, 170) put up 18.8 points on 42.7% shooting – 36.0% from 3-point range – 3.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists (sixth in NCAA Division I) and 1.8 steals in 33 starts this season. He was named First-Team All-ACC this year after starting his collegiate career at Cleveland State (2017-19) before transferring to Florida (2019-22) and then Wake Forest.

Charles Bediako (C, Alabama)

This Brampton, Ontario native tallied marks of 6.4 points on 68.4% shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 37 starts during his sophomore season for the SEC Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champion Crimson Tide. Bediako (7-0, 225) was named to the 2023 SEC All-Defensive Team and won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2021 FIBA Under-19 World Cup. 

Mike Bothwell (G, Furman)

Bothwell (6-3, 190) averaged 17.7 points on 51.7% shooting – 34.2% from 3-point range – 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists as a fifth-year senior at Furman. A two-time All-Southern Conference selection, Bothwell helped lead the #13 Paladins to an upset win over #4 Virginia in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, the program’s first such victory since 1974.

Chris Livingston (F, Kentucky)

A consensus five-star recruit in the High School Class of 2022, Livingston (6-6, 220) recorded 6.3 points on 42.9% shooting and 4.2 rebounds in 34 appearances (26 starts) during his freshman season at Kentucky. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and took home a gold medal and MVP honors at the 2019 FIBA Americans Under-16 Championship in Brazil.

Nathan Mensah (F, San Diego State)

Originally from Accra, Ghana, Mensah (6-10, 230) averaged 6.0 points on 52.1% shooting, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 39 outings (38 starts) as a fifth-year senior at San Diego State. He is a two-time reigning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and recently helped lead the Aztecs to their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Championship Game.

Courtney Ramey (G, Arizona)

Ramey (6-3, 185) averaged 10.5 points on 39.8% shooting – 40.3% from 3-point range – 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals in 32 starts this past season for the Pac-12 Conference Tournament Champion Wildcats. Prior to enrolling at Arizona, Ramey played his first four collegiate seasons at Texas, where he earned All-Big 12 Third-Team honors in 2021.
