Pre-Draft Workout #14

In preparation for the 2023 NBA Draft on June 22, the Charlotte Hornets hosted a pre-draft workout on Monday, June 12 featuring the following players:

Rasir Bolton (G, Gonzaga)

Bolton (6-3, 185) averaged 10.1 points on 43.8% shooting – 38.8% from 3-point range – 1.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 37 starts as a fifth-year senior this past season. Prior to arriving at Gonzaga, he played his freshman season at Penn State (2018-19) before transferring to Iowa State (2019-21), where he was Third-Team All-Big 12 Conference as a junior.

Desmond Cambridge Jr. (G, Arizona State)

This Second-Team All-Pac-12 selection recorded 13.6 points on 39.1% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 34 games (33 starts) as a fifth-year senior this past season. Before Arizona State, Cambridge (6-4, 180) spent two years at Brown (2017-19) and three at Nevada (2019-22; redshirted the 2019-20 campaign), where he was two-time All-Mountain West.

Matthew Mayer (G, Illinois)

Mayer (6-9, 225) tallied 12.5 points on 40.7% shooting – 33.0% from 3-point range – 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 blocks across 33 starts as a fifth-year senior this past season, leading to Third-Team All-Big 10 honors. He played his first four seasons at Baylor (2018-22) and was a member of the school’s first-ever NCAA Championship team in 2021.

Omari Moore (G, San Jose State)

San Jose State’s first-ever Mountain West Conference Player of the Year put up 17.4 points on 42.9% shooting – 33.8% from 3-point range – 4.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists over 35 starts his senior season. Moore (6-6, 190) led the Spartans to the CBI Quarterfinals (first postseason appearance since 2011) and could potentially be San Jose State’s first NBA draft pick since 1997.

Kevin Samuel (C, South Alabama)

Samuel (6-11, 225) tallied 10.1 points on 65.2% shooting, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 34 starts as a fifth-year senior this past season, leading to the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award. He spent his first three years at TCU (2018-21), then transferred to Florida Gulf Coast (2021-22), where he was the Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Flo Thamba (F, Baylor)

Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thamba (6-10, 245) averaged 5.0 points on 57.6% shooting and 4.6 rebounds in 34 starts as a fifth-year senior this past season. A member of Baylor’s 2021 NCAA Championship team, he also lived in England, France and South Africa before eventually moving to Virginia at age 16 for high school.
