The Result
The short-handed Hornets – playing without starter Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) and top reserve Gary Neal (concussion) – allowed 35 second-quarter points and never recovered, falling to the white-hot Dallas Mavericks, 107-80, on Nov. 17 at Time Warner Cable.

Turning Points
Despite playing without the services of two key pieces, Charlotte hung tough in the opening quarter, grabbing a five-point lead early. But the Mavs – the highest-scoring team in the league – caught fire in the second, shooting 65 percent (13-of-20) in the frame to pull ahead by as much as 24, taking a comfortable 67-43 lead into the locker room.

Inside the Box Score
Charlotte was outshot 51.2 percent (43-of-84) to 40 percent (32-of-80) from the floor and outrebounded 50-35… The Mavericks also tallied 32 assists on 43 made buckets… Gerald Henderson was one of the lone bright spots in the starting lineup, knocking down 8-of-14 shots for 18 points… Kemba Walker chased Monta Ellis and Jameer Nelson around on the defensive end of the floor but finished with 11 points, four assists and three rebounds… Marvin Williams shot 50 percent from the floor (3-of-6) for eight points… Lance Stephenson finished with six points, seven assists and six rebounds… Al Jefferson was held in check, only scoring six points on 3-of-12 shooting, snapping a 35-game streak of reaching double-figures dating back to last season.

Hornets Player of the Game
Gerald Henderson earned the starting nod and poured in a team- and season-high 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting, reaching double-figures for the first time this year. He added five rebounds and three assists.

Mavericks Player of the Game
Chandler Parsons was one of six Mavs in double figures, just missing a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

Game Notes
First-round draft pick Noah Vonleh made his NBA debut in the fourth quarter, tallying his first points in the league on a baseline jumper, finishing with six points and two rebounds… Jannero Pargo tallied a season-high 11 points, including three 3-pointers… P.J. Hairston scored six points on 2-of-4 shooting from behind the arc before exiting with an ankle injury… Bismack Biyombo scored four points and grabbed eight rebounds – five offensive – in 16 minutes of action… Cody Zeller added four points and two boards.
