Hornets Sign Free Agent Guard Elliot Williams

July 28, 2015 – Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has signed free agent guard Elliot Williams.  Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 22nd overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, the 6-5 Williams has played in 104 games for the Trail Blazers, 76ers, Jazz and Pelicans with career averages of 5.1 points and 1.5 rebounds in 13.7 minutes.  During the 2014-15 season, he played in 13 total games for Utah and New Orleans, averaging 2.8 points in 9.2 minutes.  Williams also signed a 10-day contract with the Hornets on February 4, 2015, but did not see game action before being released on February 10, 2015.

Williams spent the remainder of the 2014-15 season with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA D-League, where he was a D-League All-Star and was named Second Team All-D-League.  In 29 games played for the Warriors, he averaged 21.3 points, 7.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 36.0 minutes, ranking fifth in the D-League in assists and 10th in scoring.  For the season, Williams shot .474 from the field (230-485), .374 from beyond the three-point line (46-123) and .729 from the free throw line (113-155).  Williams also saw action in all seven playoff games during the Warriors’ march to the D-League Championship, earning Finals MVP honors after averaging 27.0 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 40.0 minutes during the two-game sweep.
