You must be available for Boot Camp and Finals (various days from Aug 16 – 30)

Learn choreography similar to what will be taught at auditions.

Audition Application Details

Audition Schedule

  • Auditions will be a mix of virtual submissions and in-person rounds
  • Round 1 application and video submission – must be received by August 6
    • You will be notified via email if you move on to Round 2
  • Round 2 Choreography & Judging (in-person) – August 15
  • Boot Camp (in-person) – various days between August 16 and August 25
  • Finals (in-person) – August 30

In addition to the application you must also submit the following:

  • Full-length photo
    • Submit a recent full-length photo in Hornets colors athletic wear
    • Do not use a photo that has a filter applied or that has been edited
  • Headshot
    • Submit a close-up favorite photo (does not need to be taken professionally)
    • Do not use a photo that has a filter applied or that has been edited
  • Video submission(2:00 max in length)
    • 0:30 second elevator-pitch style video introduction
    • One-minute max, free-style dance to song of your choice (make sure lyrics of song are clean)
    • Film your video horizontal and with good lighting. Formal dance space not required

Advanced dance skills are recommended

What is the evaluation criteria for making the team?

  • Dance skill level
  • Entertainer showmanship
  • Business professionalism
  • Business interview during Boot Camp
  • Freestyle presentation during Boot Camp
  • Ability to be a team player

What do I need to wear to auditions and for my video/ photo submissions?

Create a look with “Hornets vibe” utilizing Hornets colors. Be creative, be unique, and show your love for Buzz City.

Will there be compensation?

Yes, Hive Hip Hop Crew members are paid for home games, appearances, and rehearsals

What is the time commitment and is this a full-time job?

This is a part-time job, all Hive Hip Hop Crew members must either have another full-time job or be taking classes. Dancers must be able to commit to a full NBA game schedule as well as one to two rehearsals a week from September 2021 through July 2022. If you are unable to commit to rehearsals and games you should not audition

What other dates should I be prepared for in the summer?

Following our virtual rounds of auditions, candidates will be notified of our Boot Camp schedule. You should be prepared to attend all events of Boot Camp.
