Fantasy Outlook – Henderson, Redick Becoming More Versatile

In Saturday's matchup against the Orlando Magic, there are two players with great fantasy assets this season who have a connected past. Both bring very different, yet positive, values to any fantasy team. If you’re looking for help, check out Charlotte’s Gerald Henderson and Orlando’s J.J. Redick, and you might be surprised what they can offer your team this season.
Gerald Henderson might not be having the same breakout season he enjoyed last season due to missing 13 games with a foot injury this year, but he is still a definite starter for any fantasy team who is sure to see his numbers rise as the season goes on. After leading the team in scoring last season with 15.1 points, expect Henderson’s fantasy stock to gradually rise as he finds his grove and starts logging the minutes he is expected to bring to this young team. The connection Henderson shares with his fellow Duke alum is the energy he brings off the bench since returning from injury. The offseason work Henderson put in has paid off in regards to his 3-point shooting. He’s shooting 50.0 percent from long-range, and with just shy of one 3-pointer made per game Henderson now deserves the respect he should as a 3-point threat. Along with his improved 3-point shooting, Henderson is getting to the free-throw line more than last year in fewer minutes, making him a more versatile fantasy player. With Henderson only being owned in 26.3 percent of standard fantasy leagues, he might be a great pickup now that he is healthy and contributing on a nightly basis.
J.J. Redick is making a case for himself this season as a legit fantasy option. Redick is not the one-dimensional 3-point specialist we’ve seen in the past. With a career-high 5.0 assists per game this season, Redick is proving he deserves a starting spot on your fantasy roster. He currently ranks in the Top 10 of all SGs in assists and is second among players rated only as a SG, not a PG/SG combo. Redick is also averaging 13.8 points, which is up from 11.6 points last season and considerably higher than his career average of 8.7 points. It’s necessary to have players who shoot well from the charity stripe on your fantasy squad, and Redick is one of the best, shooting 91.4 percent at the line this season. Unlike Henderson currently being a quality fantasy pickup, Redick’s noteworthy season has not gone unnoticed by fantasy owners. He is currently owned in 91.5 percent of standard fantasy leagues.
