Throughout the years, Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) has been committed to social justice causes throughout numerous events & activations. In September 2020, HSE launched its Swarm The Polls campaign that aimed to educate the public about the importance of voting, inform people how to vote, drive voter registration and encourage voter turnout. This two-month activation was the first piece of a larger Social Justice Platform that was launched on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January 2021 and also includes elements related to economic mobility and racial equity. Through this initiative, HSE seeks to bring additional conversations to light and dive deeper into raising awareness and providing support in areas related to social justice.

As one of the most diverse teams in the league, the Charlotte Hornets are committed to a diverse and inclusive culture. Through activations like theme nights and celebrations, we are able to highlight diversity and inclusion in our organization as well as in our community.

Diversity & Inclusion Council

In August 2020, HSE launched an internal Diversity & Inclusion Council to provide oversight for all D&I efforts, including assessing current practices and making recommendations, determining future goals and priorities, creating educational and training opportunities, and promoting D&I within the organization.

Employee Resource Groups

In the spring of 2021, HSE implemented Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which are voluntary, employee-led groups focused on bringing together segments of the HSE community and their allies in order to foster an environment of support and inclusion.
