Tyler Johnson 2016-17 Season Rundown

Season Rundown:

When Tyler Johnson signed his big contract in the offseason, he didn’t rest on his laurels.

He got better.

For proof of that, all you have to do is take a look at his career highs across the board this past season. With him and James Johnson coming off the bench, Miami’s second unit gave other teams fits more often than not. In fact, T. Johnson led the team in scoring on 10 different occasions and scored 20-plus points in 11 games this past year, which was the most for a player off the bench in franchise history. Of course, he also continued to be a solid spot-up shooter, as he shot 38.6 percent on catch-and-shoot threes.

While all those numbers were impressive, the 25-year-old continued to stand out thanks to his relentless energy and tireless work ethic. Much like Rodney McGruder, T. Johnson gave it all he had regardless of the circumstances.

That’s what being a HEAT player is all about.

They Said It (Quote):

“There’s a lot [I want to get better at]. I think continuing to improve my body to where there’s no breakdowns and I can play as many minutes as I want on both ends of the floor without getting tired. I think that’s going to be my next step and if I can do that, I think my game will take off.” – T. Johnson on what he wants to improve
