Season Rundown:

When the HEAT signed Hassan Whiteside on November 24, he was a relative unknown. Soon enough though, Whiteside would prove to be a diamond-in-the-rough acquisition. Already with a few games under his belt, Whiteside burst onto the scene against the Los Angeles Clippers on January 11 when he tallied 23 points, 16 boards and two blocks. It was his second double-double of the season, a category in which he led the team in with 22. Whiteside used that Clippers game as a launching point and soon had the best performance of his career. Against the Chicago Bulls later that month on January 25, Whiteside posted an historic triple-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds and a franchise-record 12 blocks. He wrecked havoc all afternoon against the Bulls and simply dominated the game. As the season went on, Whiteside became more polished offensively and stayed away from early foul trouble a bit better. Whiteside closed the year averaging 11.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.56 blocks per game. He grabbed 20 rebounds four times this past season, which is already good enough for second all-time in HEAT history. With a full training camp ahead, it will be exciting to see how much Whiteside adds to his game next year.

They Said It (Quote):

“It’s great. I really appreciate the way the HEAT fans embrace me and [are] just really coming on this journey with me. I tell them it’s different between reading about my stories and actually living it. I’m really in a blessed situation, you know, and that’s why I really just go out there and just try to perform to the best of my abilities.” – Whiteside on the fans and how they’ve embraced him
