HEAT Signs Lamar Odom to an Offer Sheet

Miami HEAT President and Head Coach Pat Riley announced the team has signed swingman Lamar Odom to an offer sheet. Under NBA rules, the Los Angeles Clippers now have 15 days to match the offer or the restricted free agent will become a member of the HEAT. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We have made an offer to Lamar Odom,” said Riley. “We feel that he is a player that if we do get, would compliment the talents of our last two first-round draft picks, Caron Butler and Dwyane Wade. I believe Odom would also compliment Eddie Jones and Brian Grant, our two veteran leaders. As I have said before, we are committed to winning and will do whatever it takes to give our fans talented players and a great team to enjoy.”

Odom averaged 14.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 34.1 minutes in 48 games last season and was the only Clipper to rank in the top three on the team in points, rebounds and assists. In 230 career games, all with the Clippers, Odom has averaged 15.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.15 blocks, 1.00 steals and 36.0 minutes while shooting 44.4 percent (1349-3041) from the floor, 31.3 percent (197-630) from three-point range and 70.9 percent (761-1074) from the foul line.
