AmericanAirlines Arena, HEAT Executive Win 2013 National Safety and Security Awards
MIAMI – The AmericanAirlines Arena has won the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security’s (NCS4) 2013 Facility of Merit award for performing above and beyond normal operations and for demonstrating an innovative approach to enhancing safety and security. Additionally, AmericanAirlines Arena and Miami HEAT Director of Security, Robert “Bob” Hundevadt has been named 2013 National Sport Safety and Security Professional of the Year Award for his outstanding leadership in addressing safety and security issues.
Based out of the University of Southern Mississippi, the NCS4 is a “first of its kind,” worldwide interdisciplinary Center specifically focused on research, education, and outreach efforts in sport event security. The Center is top among academic institutions studying techniques, strategies and solutions to mitigate the safety and security risks inherent in spectator sports venues. Through cutting-edge research, internationally recognized educational programs, training and innovative solutions, NCS4 continues to enhance the level of preparedness at sports events nationwide.
Hundevadt, who is in his fifth season with the franchise, will be presented with both awards during the 2013 National Sports Safety and Security Conference & Exhibition on July 17th in Orlando, Florida.
