TOMMY TIGHE
Radio Network Host
With 43 years of radio broadcasting experience, veteran Tommy Tighe enters his 14th season with the HEAT Radio Network producing and co-hosting the pre-game, halftime and post-game shows. In addition to his game day duties, Tighe hosts the HEAT Weekly Show Saturday mornings during the basketball season which airs on multiple stations throughout the weekend on the HEAT Radio Network. Tighe has also served as a fill-in play-by-play announcer on a handful of HEAT games and as a host in the past on the HEAT's former flagship station, 790 the Ticket.
Between 1998-2009, Tighe was a studio host for Westwood One’s college football coverage including the Cotton, Sun, Alamo, Gator and Holiday Bowls as well as their college basketball schedule which included three Final Fours and 12 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships. In addition to his collegiate duties, Tighe covered the NFL for Westwood One where he hosted NFL Preview with Boomer Esiason and John Madden, NFL Fantasy and NFL.com’s Insider Show including the NFL Playoffs, AFC and NFC Championship Games and nine Super Bowls. Tighe also anchored coverage of the Masters, US Open, PGA Championship and British Open from 2006-09 before joining Sirius/XM’s radio coverage of the FedEx Cup Playoffs in late 2009.
Prior to his time with Westwood One, Tighe served as a studio anchor for 11 years (1987-98) with CBS Sports Radio where he produced and hosted many events including the 1992, 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics. He also anchored the US Open for three years (1994-97) while providing sports commentary on a number of shows with Brent Musburger, Greg Gumbel, Jim Nantz and Pat O’Brien to name a few.
Tighe got his start in radio broadcasting in 1980 with SportsPhone before being hired by WCBS-AM in New York serving as a correspondent for seven years (1980-87) covering all New York area teams.
A 1977 Penn State University graduate with a degree in speech communications, Tighe was born in New York before moving to New Jersey where he maintained a residence for 36 years. He and his wife, Erica, currently reside in Miami Shores.
