HEAT Host Youth Basketball Clinic

The Miami HEAT hosted a HEAT Youth Basketball Clinic presented by Gatorade at CARE Elementary School on Wednesday, January 18th. HEAT Players, James Johnson and Rodney McGruder, joined former Miami HEAT Trainer, Ron Culp, in conducting the clinic. In-Arena Host, Uptown Dale, as well as the Miami HEAT Dancers andHEAT Mascot, Burnie, also joined them. The event included a basketball clinic on the basic skills of the game and a discussion of the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle with about 100 students from CARE Elementary. CARE Elementary is committed to quality instruction by dedicated teachers and an engaging common core curriculum with the ongoing support of volunteers.

This clinic also kicked off the first day of NBA FIT Week, which features all NBA and NBA D-League teams and players joining community members and partners in highlighting the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle through grassroots programs and events. The NBA FIT program celebrates the values of the game – hard work, discipline, leadership and teamwork – and features some of the best athletes in the world encouraging fans of all ages to lead healthy, active lives.
