  • HEAT Profile: Trista
  • The hottest sensation to hit televisions nationwide, former HEAT Dancer Trista Rehn, star of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” was “Feeling the HEAT” Feb. 11 when she returned to the AmericanAirlines Arena to meet and greet some of her most loyal South Florida fans.

It was almost overnight that Trista, a physical therapist at Miami Children’s Hospital, went from a typical woman searching for love to a celebrity in the limelight. Beating out a field of 23 other women for the affection of one man on last year’s hit reality series “The Bachelor,” she was ultimately unsuccessful in finding her love connection. But this season Trista is back on the Wednesday night primetime lineup with a chance to choose her potential mate via “The Bachelorette.”

As the wildly popular show nears its end, viewers are hanging on to find out the conclusion of Trista’s adventure and discover which lucky finalist will win her heart.

Modest of her star status in the entertainment world, Trista says she still can’t believe this is happening to her, as she takes a break from filming her guest-starring role on the show “Less Than Perfect” to share her thoughts. Like a little girl in a candy store, Trista is wining and dining with some of Hollywood’s hottest stars, in shock as some of her favorite celebs are now recognizing her!

From presenting an award with Mekhi Phifer at the American Music Awards to sitting on the 50-yardline at the Super Bowl to attending the most posh parties and even walking down the runaway along with Miss America, Vivica Fox and Niki Taylor in the NFL’s GridIron Glamour Fashion Show to benefit charity, this 30-year-old is running from gig to gig, gaining more and more notoriety along the way. She has hosted shows on VH-1 and Lifetime, made her way through the talk show circuit and made a guest appearance on “According to Jim,” starring Jim Belushi. She has even been featured in Maxim, US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, People, TIME, Glamour and local publication, City & Shore.

Before her claim to fame, Trista enjoyed her lifestyle as a physical therapist by day and HEAT Dancer by night. With a passion for dance and a close relationship with her fellow dancers, Trista’s favorite part about her two seasons on the squad was the close camaraderie among the team, not to mention a great workout! Among wonderful memories, she noted a funny occasion when Burnie came out to the court on his famous tricycle and Trista gave it a test drive herself.

Although it was a difficult challenge to balance all of her responsibilities, Trista says it was all “doable” because she is more productive when busy. Often, she would arrive at work early so she could make it on time for dance rehearsal or a game. But it was worth it, she says, for the incredible experience she had as a HEAT Dancer for two seasons.

Born in Indianapolis and raised in St. Louis, Trista dedicated her high school days to dance, soccer and student council. Although she had no formal dance training, she joined the ranks as a “Red Stepper” dance team member at Indiana University, where she earned a degree in exercise science. In 1995 she was accepted to the University of Miami, where she pursued her master’s degree in physical therapy and graduated with honors.

Dancing alongside other HEAT Dancers who are professionals as well, Trista says stereotypes often associated with dancers are false. A very intelligent woman, she says she was involved in the activity as a way to make friends, while doing what she loves.

Living seven years in the Miami area, Trista enjoyed the sunny, South Florida lifestyle. Whether it was hanging out with her friends at the beach, hitting up a local sports bar to play pool or dancing the night away at the trendiest South Beach hotspots, Trista, who currently is living in Los Angeles, says she misses her friends the most.
Another staple down south, she also craves a “Deluxe Chop-Chop” from Chicken Kitchen or a delicious meal at China Grill.

What is next for America’s favorite girl? Although a career on TV – possibly a hosting job – would be ideal, she says she has no expectations and takes each day at a time.

One thing she is confident about is that she and her mystery man – whoever he may be – will work out. So stay tuned…this is one ending you won’t want to miss!
