Hawks Announce Details for Sixth Annual 'Pride Night' on Jan. 17

Night Features In-Game Programming and Rainbow Lighting of Iconic ‘ATLANTA’ Letters at State Farm Arena

ATLANTA – On Wednesday, Jan. 17, the Atlanta Hawks will host their sixth annual Pride Night at the game against the Orlando Magic, which will include a special halftime performance from GRAMMY® Award-nominated rap artist and actress Da Brat. The evening will include special in-game programming that celebrates members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community and will feature a rainbow lighting of the iconic ‘ATLANTA’ letters.

A Pride Night ticket package can be purchased at and includes a custom Hawks-branded Pride hat, while supplies last.

“We welcome the city to join us in celebrating diversity and inclusion during our annual Pride Night,” said Hawks’ Executive Vice President and Chief People, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer, Camye Mackey. “Fostering an environment where everyone truly feels like they belong is so important to the Hawks as we want to be a reflection of our city and all people that live here.”

To tip off the festivities, Voices of Note’s Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus (AGMC) will sing the national anthem. The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus is one of the world’s longest-running gay men’s choruses. Founded by Jeffrey McIntyre in 1981, the AGMC has long been a catalyst for social change, providing an opportunity to be inspired and to journey into the perspectives of LGBTQIA+ neighbors, teachers, siblings, and friends.

At halftime, Da Brat will perform a set to help celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. Shawntae Harris, better known by her stage name “Da Brat”, is an American rap artist, profound writer, television and radio personality, executive music and television producer and actress.

Da Brat’s debut album ‘Funkdafied’ was released in 1994 and ranked atop the rap albums chart. The album was certified platinum by RIAA, making her the first female solo rapper to sell one million units. Da Brat continues to flourish in her acting and music career, writing and producing as well as developing new talent.

Throughout the game, the Hawks will celebrate members of the LGBTQIA+ community with interactive programming and videos, including an ATL Dancers performance choreographed by NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent’ contestant Oscar Hernandez and a recap video of the Hawks participation in the Atlanta Pride Parade earlier this season.

In October 2023, the Atlanta Hawks were official sponsors of the Atlanta Pride Parade and marched in the parade with presence from the organization’s team members, friends, and family. The float featured performances by Harry the Hawk, ATL Dancers, and the College Park Skyhawks Southside Crew.

Launched in 2022, the Hawks Pride Council includes external community leaders, partners, and entrepreneurs in the LGBTQIA+ community who work with the organization as advocates and liaisons. In 2015, the Hawks were the first professional sports team in Atlanta to enter a float in Atlanta’s annual Pride Parade.
