HAWKS ANNOUNCE 2010-11 NBA REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE
Atlanta home opener vs.
Washington on Saturday, October 30
Hawks appear on national TV 14 occasions
ATLANTA, GA (August 10, 2010) -- The Atlanta Hawks and
the National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced the 2010-11 schedule
and following two straight road games to tipoff the season, the Hawks will host
the Washington Wizards in their Philips Arena home opener on Saturday, October
30th at 7 p.m.
The Hawks, and new coach Larry Drew, will open the regular season Wednesday,
October 27th at Memphis and two nights later (October 29) will travel to
Philadelphia before returning to Atlanta to play the Wizards.
Atlanta will play eight of their first 14 games at home, with notable games
against first-round playoff opponent Milwaukee on Wednesday, November 10 and
Eastern Conference finalist Boston on Monday, November 22. In addition, the
Hawks will be in action on Thanksgiving Night (November 25) as Washington makes
a return trip to Philips Arena in a nationally-televised game.
In a rematch of their second round playoff series, Atlanta and Orlando will meet
on Monday, December 20 and Wednesday, March 30.
Their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday game will be televised on NBA TV,
when the Sacramento Kings venture to town on Monday, January 17. The start time
for that contest will be 4 p.m.
The World Champion Los Angeles Lakers will make their only appearance in town on
Tuesday, March 8, while the new-look Miami Heat won't make it to Atlanta until
after the All-Star break - on Friday, March 18 and Monday, April 11, which is
also the Hawks regular season home finale.
The 41-game home schedule has 21 weekend dates, with nine games on Fridays,
eight on Saturdays and four on Sundays. Atlanta will play five straight at
Philips Arena between March 12-22, while their longest road stretch will come
before and after the All-Star Game (Sunday, February 20th in Los Angeles), when
the Hawks will conclude the month with seven straight road games (from February
Atlanta's busiest month will come in December, when the Hawks play a total of 17
games (8 home/9 road), and they will close out the 2010-11 season with 14 of
their last 21 at Philips Arena. Eleven of those games will be played in March.
In addition to the national TV games mentioned above, the Hawks will also be
featured on national television 14 times with a total of seven appearances
slated for NBA TV. ESPN will carry four games, while TNT will showcase a total

set to tipoff at 7:30 (the nationally-televised Friday contests will start at 8

start of training camp is set for Tuesday, September 28 at Philips Arena.
Atlanta's annual media day activities will take place Monday, September 27 at 3
p.m., on the Philips Arena practice court.
