In honor of the NBA's 75th anniversary, we celebrate the historic legacy of the league and pay tribute to generations of basketball fans around the world as well as current and former players and coaches. The Hawks will celebrate the occasion on Wednesday, Jan. 12, when they take on the Miami Heat.
A mashup of the Hawks' most beloved uniform highlights, the NIKE 2021-22 NBA City Edition uniform blends the hope for the future with all the flavor of your favorite eras over more than 50 years.
From Sweet Lou to Ice Trae, through the triumphs and trials in pursuit of a championship, the 404 has always held us down and we bring you this "love letter" as our ultimate tribute to the 'A'.
A call out of the city's iconic 404 area code is at the jersey tag incorporated with the razor-talon Hawk.
The 2-color Infinity Black and Torch Red at the neck and arms are reminiscent of the configuration from the team's kit from the 1985 season.
The Sharecare patch is always close to our hearts on the left side of every Hawks uniform. Sharecare is proud to be woven into the fabric of the NIKE 2021-22 NBA City Edition: Moments Mixtape jersey, just as the Atlanta-based digital health leader is woven into the fabric of our city.
The number style on the front of the jersey harkens back to the Hawks' inaugural year in Atlanta representing the lettering of the 1968 unis and the back of the jersey sports numbers in the lettering from 1985.
The 1970's lettering of the "Atlanta" on the jersey chest invokes the spirit of Pistol Pete.
Reintroducing the imposing razor-talon hawk clutching the basketball with his wings spread wide across the jersey torso is a nod to the 1998 design which was worn by greats like Dikembe Mutombo and Steve Smith.

The bold hue of the Hawks Legacy Yellow sets a vibrant tone for our young dynamic team to carry the mantle of the greats that built the franchise.
Red the most enduring color since the team's relocation to Atlanta. This primary color symbolizes our red-hot spirit and fiery passion for the game.
Affirms the Atlanta Hawks' bold and relentless pursuit of a championship, fueled by the support of our unwavering fans and the love for our city that will never die.
The coordinating court for the NIKE 2021-22 NBA City Edition uniform has the imposing razor-talon hawk of the late 90's as the centerpiece. Its powerful wings spanning between the 3-point arcs as it tenaciously clutches the basketball. The gradient Infinity Black to Torch Red is echoed in both the court's apron and the free-throw lanes. The lettering of the Atlanta Hawks name in Legacy Yellow on the baseline mimics the wordmark of the 1982-92 era. The feather motif outline sweeps the sideline, while the Primary Icon logo is at the center of the 404 callout at the center court line.
From birthing the sons and daughters of the movement, to making the music that moves the world, we inspire generations past, present and future.

Jovita Moore’s children talked about her legacy of giving as the late Channel 2 anchor was honored by a charity that was very close to her heart Saturday.
When she wasn’t on the anchor desk, Moore spent countless hours working with Our House, a nonprofit that works to end the cycle of homelessness. She even hosted pampering days for the women at the shelter.
Moore’s children, Shelby, Josh and Lauren, accepted the honor on her behalf Saturday at Atlanta History Center and talked about what it meant to watch their mom give so much back to the community.
“It just showed me that you always just have to give back, and we’re all the same at the end,” Shelby Griffith said. “And we just need to be there for each other and make the most of things and enjoy the little things too.”
Josh Griffith said the children at the shelter always looked up to him, and he learned from his mom to always be there for other people.
“Jovita always had a really busy schedule, so just the fact that she would take the time out of her day to go and be with someone and serve them and spend time with them, it just shows the type of person that she was, and she passed that down to us,” Lauren Griffith said. “So that’s something that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.”

Kevin Rathbun is a big presence on Atlanta’s culinary scene. His physical stature may be what people notice initially, but it’s his robust flavors, genuine hospitality, and big heart that make a lasting impression.
Kevin’s passion for food and hospitality started early. He grew up in Kansas City, where his mother operated several prominent restaurants, and where his father, a jazz musician, provided musical stylings. Kevin started as a dishwasher, worked his way up through the ranks, and never looked back. As a child and teen, he worked hard to become an Eagle Scout (a feat only about 5% of scouts achieve), showcasing his exemplary perseverance, leadership, dedication and integrity, all qualities that set him apart to this day. Following culinary school, he worked in New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta with nationally known celebrity chefs and restaurateurs including Bradley Ogden, Emeril Lagasse, Stephen Pyles, Ella Brennan, and Pano Karatassos.
No matter the style of cuisine, Kevin brought his signature bold flavors and generous leadership style to each project. In 1994, he was nominated for the James Beard Awards “Rising Star Chef” for his work at Baby Routh. In 1996, he introduced Southwestern fare to Atlanta with the opening of Buckhead Life Restaurant Group’s pioneering restaurant, Nava, and then presented Asian-fusion cuisine with the group’s Bluepointe. He then served as the company’s Corporate Executive Chef, overseeing several BLRG restaurants.
After years of building blockbuster restaurants for other entrepreneurs, Kevin decided to make his long-time dream of owning his own place a reality. He discovered a warehouse-style space in Inman Park and became a pioneer in the area, opening his first namesake restaurant, Rathbun’s, in 2004, laying the groundwork for it to become the dining destination it is today. When he opened the doors to the modern American-style eatery, he invited the city of Atlanta to come experience his dream. What a dream it was! Both culinary fans and media caught the vision; a seat at Rathbun’s quickly became the hottest ticket in town. It was named to Esquire’s coveted “Best New Restaurants in America” list, as the year’s “Best New American Restaurant” in Travel + Leisure, and was showered with a host of other accolades.
The momentum kept going at full force. Kevin opened Krog Bar the next year, and followed up with Kevin Rathbun Steak, perfectly positioned on the Atlanta BeltLine, in 2007. In 2013, he opened KR Steakbar in Buckhead’s Peachtree Hills neighborhood. Ever a media favorite, Kevin has appeared on dozens of television programs including The Today Show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Good Morning America, CNN, and Good Day Atlanta. On Food Network, Kevin competed against Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America, besting the celebrity chef in “Battle Elk” (you can try the winning recipe on Kevin Rathbun Steak’s menu!) in front of a national audience. He went on to win on the network’s popular Chopped, in a sibling rivalry show with his brother, Dallas-based chef Kent Rathbun. Kevin’s natural combination of talent, skill, grace under pressure, and personality have made him a perennial fan favorite.
Philanthropy and improving his community has always been a major focus for Kevin. His tireless commitment to giving has led him to serve on boards, at events and through donations to organizations both local and national, including Taste of the NFL’s Kick Hunger Challenge, No Kid Hungry, Open Hand Atlanta, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Les Dames d’Escoffier, March of Dimes, Giving Kitchen and many more.
Kevin’s wife of more than three decades, Melissa, whom he met working at the famed Commander’s Palace in New Orleans, has been by his side every step of the way. She’s a constant source of inspiration and support, and frequent guests will recognize her warm smile that’s a regular fixture in the restaurants. In his spare time, the big-hearted chef enjoys collecting cookbooks, dining out, traveling, and smoking a fine cigar on occasion. He’s humbled to have the support of his Atlanta community, enabling him to continue to be a visionary in both the local and national restaurant landscape.

However, he always had faith in his father and knew they would be successful at whatever they put their minds to.

His media skills have been essential to the farm as media has become such a big part of becoming a successful business today.

As an enterprising music executive and entrepreneur, Chaka Zulu steers a multimillion-selling independent record label, a management company, a film company, a publishing company and a burgeoning corporate consulting firm.
Named after an African chieftain, Zulu has had a remarkable path to success, most notably as the Co-CEO of Disturbing Tha Peace Records. Music is practically second nature to him as he comes from a musical family; his mother sang back up for Miriam Makeba and Nina Simone, his father sang in doo-wop groups in his native New York, his 2nd Dad is an original member of Gil Scott Heron’s Midnight Band and his cousins include hip hop legends Grand Puba and Tupac Shakur. Music began to have a profound effect on Zulu’s life when he first heard “Rapper’s Delight” at the age of nine. Hip hop, combined with an upbringing by parents who were also frontline revolutionaries, was destined to shape his future.
By the time he began studies at Clark College, Zulu had built a solid reputation as a background dancer, DJ and street promoter. A fraternity brother helped him land a job at Jive Records, where he worked with UGK and E-40. He went on to work for hip hop station Hot 97.5, later changed to 107.9 in Atlanta, working his way up from overnight DJ to music director. He met hip hop artist Ludacris while at 97.5 and later became his manager.
Following his stint at Hot 97.5, Zulu joined Def Jam as head of mix shows and street teams. He became head of rap radio and street promotion at Columbia Records, while still managing Ludacris. Soon after, Chaka and Ludacris started Disturbing Tha Peace Records and they eventually struck a deal with Def Jam Records. An impressive record of hits were to follow: five multi-platinum Ludacris CDs and gold, platinum and critically-acclaimed CDs from Disturbing Tha Peace acts Chingy, Bobby Valentino, Shawnna and Shareefa.
Chaka Zulu believes that community is more important than the individual and focuses on mentorship and giving back.
Zulu has also gone on to launch, run and/or be Co-CEO of Ebony Son Entertainment, Read and Write Music Publishing, The Sound Room − his video and film directorial arm − as well as making inroads into corporate consulting, artist development, real estate, food & beverage, etc.
