In addition to their commitment to the Atlanta Hawks, the members have a wide variety of occupations. The 2003-04 Atlanta Hawks Dance Team features a teacher, a business owner, pharmaceutical sales rep, massage therapist, engineer, and several students. Their collective talents include dancing, singing, acting, modeling, gymnastics and much more!
The Dance Team is involved in a host of other activities include annual service projects for Project Open Hand, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation events, as well as a host of other charitable events. Every summer the Atlanta Hawks hold an audition to find the most talented and enthusiastic dancers to become part of their team. Dance Team members must be at least 19 years old. Dancers must also have at least part-time employment or be a full-time student. Dance ability is essential and high school or college dance/cheerleading is helpful. Selections to the group are based on dance ability, appearance and personality. All current members are required to audition annually. Participants should be skilled in dance technique, as well as various styles of dance not limited to jazz and modern dance. The team also holds an annual audition clinic to provide participants with behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming audition process. Currently, the team practices three times a week during the season. For more information on the audition process, please stay up-to- date on hawks.com or sign up for the official Hawks e-notifier Nothin' But Net Mail.
The Atlanta Hawks Dance Team is available for bookings year-round, including corporate functions and charitable events. All requests must be made at least one month in advance and in writing. In the past, the team has fulfilled requests for many organizations in a variety of ways including: performing, acting as hosts/hostesses, helping with auctions, holding autograph and photograph sessions, interacting with children, touring hospitals and more.
