ATLANTA – Today, the Hawks Shop, the official team store of the Atlanta Hawks, has announced a special in-store collaboration with SKRIT, the new streetwear line by Atlanta’s own Waka Flocka Flame. To help introduce the co-branded four-piece capsule, the award-winning music and television star will do a special in-game performance and following the game will host a meet-and-greet at the main Hawks Shop with fans who purchase items from the collection. The Hawks’ home contest against the Philadelphia 76ers is set for 7:30 p.m. tipoff and marks the second of 12 ‘Forever 404’ nights, which pays homage to Atlanta culture, past, present and future. 

Intended for both the young and seasoned fan, the neutral-color palette SKRIT streetwear will be available for purchase for fans exclusively available at the main Hawks Shop, near Gate 1 at State Farm Arena. Each item in this collection features the Hawks’ logo on elevated luxurious t-shirts, fleece crewnecks and joggers. 

“I'm excited about bringing SKRIT to my hometown of Atlanta with one of the most iconic teams in the NBA, said Waka Flocka. “SKRIT has no creative ceiling and I consider this one of the most potentially worth while investments I've made in a long time.”

Waka Flocka Flame has been known for his unabashed support for Atlanta sports teams and is well-known for his timeless singles “O Let’s Do It”, “Hard in da Paint” and “No Hands”. The latter of which won the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards for Best Club Banger.

ATLANTA – As a continuation of the multiyear partnership between the Hawks and global sports and lifestyle brand adidas, the two companies have teamed up around the recent launch of the Trae Young 1 “So So Def” colorway, a tribute to the iconic Atlanta-based record label. To celebrate the shoe’s release and the label’s history, So So Def founder and prolific producer Jermaine Dupri will make a special appearance at the Hawks game on Sunday, Nov. 14. The in-arena entertainment will also feature performances of classic songs by label hitmakers Jagged Edge and Bonecrusher. The game presented by adidas on Sunday, Nov. 14, tips off at 6 p.m.

“I have loved every minute of helping put Atlanta on the global music map with So So Def for more than 25 years,” said Jermaine Dupri, founder of the legendary label. “It’s dope that the Hawks understand how important that history is and that Trae Young and adidas are taking the So So Def brand to a whole new level with these Trae Young 1s.”

GRAMMY® Award-winning producer, Hall of Fame songwriter, recording artist, and TV star, Dupri will do a limited signing of the Trae Young 1 “So So Def” shoes purchased at the arena’s Hawks Shop. Dupri, who was raised in Atlanta, founded So So Def Recordings in 1993 and has seen nearly three decades of success after working with numerous famed artists on his own label including Da Brat, Bow Wow and Xscape, as well as other global icons in music like Mariah Carey and Usher.

R&amp;B quartet Jagged Edge is known not only for their smooth ballads, but dancefloor anthems such as “Where The Party At?” while on the So So Def roster. Gravel-voiced rapper Bonecrusher’s “Never Scared” is a spirited Atlanta-standard. Fans will be treated to live performances from both acts, along with nods to the many hits that the label has produced over the years.

As part of the recent launch of the Trae Young 1s, adidas and the Hawks have also invited more than 30 sneaker-culture influencers to the game for private event at State Farm Arena. Scheduled to attend are TikTok stars Mr. Hotspot, Toosie and more. On that night, fans are invited to participate in a special 360-degree adidas-branded revolving photo booth experience on the arena’s concourse to make personal videos for sharing across social media.

In 2018, the So So Def 25th Anniversary show officially opened up the award-winning State Farm Arena to a sold-out crowd for the first concert in the venue after the completion of the second-largest arena transformation in NBA history. Led by Jermaine Dupri who has been an iconic presence in the music industry over 30 years, this one-night event celebrated the breadth of So So Def’s chart-topping artists over more than a quarter century of success.

Hawks Spotlight Legendary Atlanta Record Label with ‘So So Def Night Presented by Adidas’ on Sunday, Nov. 14

ATLANTA – To honor veterans of the military this season, Hawks star John Collins announced plans to host 800 local veterans at 20 Hawks games in the new Baptist Battalion section at State Farm Arena. Forty veterans from the greater Atlanta area will attend each of the 20 games and receive complimentary tickets, transportation as and a signature shirt from Collins’ The Baptist Collection clothing brand. Sharecare, the team’s official jersey patch partner, partnered with Collins to provide the necessary resources to honor these service members from local veteran organizations as well as nearby military bases. The Baptist Battalion will seat the first 40 veterans on Monday, Nov. 15, when the Hawks take on the Orlando Magic. 

Raised by two veterans who served the United States Armed Forces for more than 42 years combined (mother Lyria Rising-Collins served more than 22 years in the Air Force and father John Collins Jr. served 20 in the Navy) and having moved multiple times while growing up, Collins has personal experience with the sacrifice, commitment and dedication exemplified by veterans.

The longest-tenured current Hawks player, Collins, is averaging 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and a career best of 2.3 assists in 31.1 minutes per game this season. He also is shooting team highs of .583 from the field and .455 from three-point range. Collins signed a long-term deal with the Hawks on Aug. 6, 2021. 

“I have seen the sacrifice our veterans make on a daily basis and it’s important to me to do what I can to make sure they know their service is appreciated,” Collins said. “I’m honored to be able to thank them in this small way for all they have done and continue to do for our country.”                                            

Collins has committed his career to honoring and supporting military members and their families. Ahead of Veterans Day 2020, he served dinner for 70 and supplied business and professional attire to veterans seeking to re-enter the workforce. During Memorial Day 2019, Collins partnered with the NBA and Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Good Grief Camp for an event that took children who lost a loved one in the Armed Forces on a tour of the Pentagon and 9/11 Memorial in Washington, D.C., before hosting them for a Junior NBA clinic.

The 24-year-old forward/center is a former recipient of the Jason Collier Memorial Trophy (2019-20 season), which is earned annually by the Hawks player who most closely exemplifies the characteristics of a community ambassador like Collier, the late Atlanta Hawks center who passed away in 2005. Collins also was honored in May 2021 as the inaugural winner of the 2020-21 Sekou Smith Award, which annually honors the player on the team's roster who best represents themselves and the franchise with professionalism and integrity in their interactions with the media.
