Grizzlies Youth Basketball
Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Rosalyn Knox, the 2018-19 Grizzlies Youth Basketball Coach of the Year!
Rosalyn Knox currently serves as the Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Program Director for the Memphis Jewish Community Center. Although she works at the JCC, Knox ensures that her programs are accessible to everyone, regardless of religious background or other identifiers. Within the past few years, Knox started a city-wide youth basketball league for girls, and has been coaching in the Memphis area for over two decades. An 11-year veteran of the United States Navy, Rosalyn’s coaching philosophy can be traced back to her military service, where common traits such as teamwork, leadership, communication and service are easily transferable to youth sports.
A Memphis native, Coach Roz played her high school ball at Memphis East before playing collegiately at Lane College in Jackson, TN. Knox earned her M.B.A. in Health Care Management and her B.S. in Exercise Sports Sciences. She is a certified personal trainer and a USA Basketball Licensed Coach. Affectionately known as “Coach Roz”, she actively seeks to develop special relationships through coaching, especially for those without typical role models and mentors to look up to.
Knox is heavily involved with Grizzlies Youth Basketball initiatives as well. Her gym frequently serves as a host for Grizzlies Basketball Camps, her basketball league participates annually in the Junior Grizzlies program, and she regularly attends Jr. NBA Coaches Forums.
The Memphis Grizzlies are proud to recognize Rosalyn Knox – who now goes on to serve as the team’s nominee for National Jr. NBA Coach of the Year – while also celebrating the contributions and positive impacts of ALL youth basketball coaches. If you are a coach or administrator who would also like to get involved with Grizzlies Youth Basketball presented by Nike, e-mail Antonio Perez (Director of Youth Basketball Programming) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rosalyn Knox has been named the 2018-19 Grizzlies Youth Basketball Coach of the Year. Knox becomes the third-ever honoree, joining Randy Odom of Memphis Athletic Ministries (’16-’17) and Kevin Wieters of Grace Athletics (’17-’18).
