The question that arises every time a young player has a strong game in the NBA Summer League usually goes something like this: Is he that good, or is he just a “summer league guy”?

After Saturday afternoon’s fairly thorough 93-77 dismantling of the Knicks’ summer league team by the Grizzlies at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, that question was locked in the ready position after watching second-year man Josh Selby and rookie Tony Wroten, Jr.

MEMPHIS, TN July 13, 2012 – The Memphis Grizzlies signed 2012 draft selection Tony Wroten, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced.

Wroten (6-6, 203) was selected by the Grizzlies in the first round (No. 25 overall) of the 2012 NBA Draft. The 19-year-old became the first freshman in University of Washington history to earn First Team All-Conference honors, ranking fifth in the Pac-12 in scoring (16.0 points), eighth in assists (3.7) and second in steals (1.9) in 35 games for the Huskies.

MEMPHIS, July 10, 2012 The Grizzlies today announced the team’s 2012 NBA Summer League roster, headlined by 2012 first round draft pick Tony Wroten (No. 25 overall) along with second-year guards Jeremy Pargo and Josh Selby.  The squad will compete in the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas at the COX Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from July 14-22.
