Team Quotes

On the game
We didn’t compete. We played tentative. We gave them too much respect. I thought the first half gave them a great cushion against us. You show respect by playing a team hard and I didn’t think we did that in the first half. I thought we were tippy-toeing around. I thought they were faster to loose balls. I didn’t think we ever got organized offensively. That’s okay; it’s a learning experience for us. We get to go home. The best part about it is we get to go home and play them again right away and take another shot at them. Not to take anything away from them, they’re a great team, but we didn’t show up tonight.
-- Coach Fizdale
On Marc Gasol's absence
I mean, it’s huge. Obviously, a big part of what we do has to do with Marc and has to do with Mike. But still, you know me, that’s no excuse for our effort. Our effort was poor tonight and that was what was disappointing. We came back in the second half and showed better grit, but by then, you can’t give a team like that that kind of cushion and expect to come back against them.
-- Coach Fizdale
On the challenge of trying to come back in the second half
I mean, we just didn’t play our best basketball tonight. But, I think we came out too selfish. We have to bounce back tomorrow. We didn’t play good. We didn’t play our best basketball tonight.
-- Zach Randolph
On seeing Deyonta Davis go down
Yeah, DD (Deyonta Davis) had been doing great. Hopefully it’s not serious and that he’ll be alright.
-- Zach Randolph
