Postgame Report: Grizzlies defeat Knicks 127-123, Morant has triple-double

The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the New York Knicks 127-123 on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

Despite the Knicks dropping 40 points—including 17 points from Jalen Brunson—in the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies battled wire-to-wire, sealing the game after three combined free throws from Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the final minute.

While the Knicks dished out a season-high 30 assists, the Grizzlies posted 32 assists, 14 of which were from Morant – a career high.

Morant posted his fifth career triple-double, tying Marc Gasol for the franchise record and leading the Grizzlies with 27 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Dillon Brooks followed with 23 points and five rebounds, while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 21 points and five rebounds. Steven Adams totaled a season-high 16 points with 10 rebounds, his seventh double-double of the season.

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 30 points, five rebounds and nine assists, and RJ Barrett followed with 22 points and seven rebounds. Mitchell Robinson added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Julius Randle posted a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

New York led Memphis 26-25 behind a 12-4 run to close out the first quarter. The Grizzlies gained the lead after a 12-4 run in the second quarter, leading 54-52 at the half. The Knicks struggled from 3-point range in the first half, shooting only 18.8% compared to the Grizzlies’ 46.7%.

The Grizzlies increased their lead in the third quarter after dropping 39 points and reaching their largest lead of the night at 12 points. Memphis led New York 93-83 going into the final quarter.
