Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins launches “Coach Jenkins’ Assists for Education program” for 2019-20 season

Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins today announced his Coach Jenkins’ Assists for Education program for the 2019-20 season. Through the program, Jenkins has pledged to donate $10 per Grizzlies assist throughout the 2019-20 regular season to provide educational support for students in Shelby County Schools.

“When I moved here to Memphis this summer and learned about this great city, I started to realize there was a huge need for our students and teachers in our school systems,” said Jenkins. “Education has been a passion of mine my entire life. I see this as a great opportunity to give back to our students and teachers for all of the needs that they have. This program reminds me how fortunate I’ve been with my personal school experience where I was always excited to go to class every single day to learn and grow. I see great opportunities for our students here in the city of Memphis to go and explore the world through education.”

A core tenet of the program will be to provide everyday necessities such as school supplies, socks, clothing, etc. to students throughout the greater Memphis area. Throughout the season, every Grizzlies bounce pass, chest pass or lob will help Jenkins get one assist closer to his goal of donating $20,000 to Shelby County Schools. Another important facet of the program is Jenkins encouraging Grizz fans and others to join him in support of local students through volunteerism, donations and an overall commitment to youth and education in Shelby County.
