Memphis Grizzlies announce festivities for home opener Wednesday night against the New York Knicks

Memphis Native and Saxophonist Kirk Whalum to Perform National Anthem; NLE Choppa Performs During Player Introductions; Memphians Project Pat and Big Boogie Halftime Performance

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Grizzlies will host their 2022-23 regular season home opener next Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. as they face the New York Knicks at FedExForum. In addition to the return of the Grizzlies, fans will be treated to a full night of celebration for their favorite team, including everyone in attendance receiving a Grizzlies Big Memphis T-shirt. Tickets are available in the Big River Steel Terrace, with limited availability on Plaza and Pinnacle. Fans can purchase tickets online at grizzlies.com/tickets, Ticketmaster.com, the FedExForum Box Office or by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX.

True to Memphis, music will play a significant role in the season opener. Grind City fans will want to be in their seats well before tip-off as a special National Anthem performance will be given by Memphis native and Grammy Award winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum. To follow, rapper and Memphis native NLE Choppa will take the stage during player introductions. During halftime, fans will be treated to another display of Memphis music from Memphian Project Pat and Memphis-raised CMG Artist Big Boogie. Garry Goin & The Memphis Grizzlies House Band will perform pregame on the Slim and Husky’s Soundstage, while DJ Mic Tee will be on the Plaza Concourse and DJ Mad EFX at the Big River Steel Terrace Party at the top of the North escalator near Section 228.

Grizzlies fans are invited to arrive early and hit the FedExForum Outdoor Plaza, presented by U. S. Steel's Big River Steel, to enjoy the Home Opener Party starting at 5 p.m., with live music featuring one-man band Cam Cole, a Folk, Delta Blues, Grunge and Rock N' Roll-inspired artist who appeared on Ted Lasso. The party will extend onto Beale Street where Grizzline will hold a special performance at 6 p.m. and then parade with fans to FedExForum. Attendees can make their way to the Grizzlies Den, A Fanatics Experience, to check out all-new Grizzlies gear for the 22-23 Season. In addition, fans can grab the item of the game, the Big Memphis White Hoodie for only $39.99.

Once inside FedExForum, guests looking to showcase their Grizzlies fandom can stop by various stations around the concourse for photos, face painting, balloon art and a free sneaker cleaning at SNKRR BAR located at the top of the north escalator on the Big River Terrace. In-game performances throughout the evening will include appearances from fan favorites Blue Bunch, Grizz, the Grizz Girls, Grizzline, Grizzlies Grannies and Grandpas and the Kings of the Court.

New to FedExForum this season, the Big River Steel Edge is open for all fans to enjoy, located on the Terrace level of FedExForum. The BRS Edge features 34 TVs for fans, as well as a refreshed and revitalized bar and grill with an updated menu. In addition, the BRS Edge provides a larger overlook to the terrace and an indoor/outdoor space that opens to the front of the building.
