Grizzlies to host civic celebration and court dedication

Grizzlies players, coaches and City of Memphis mayor host a ribbon cutting for the revitalized basketball court at Southside Park in honor of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

MEMPHIS, September 20, 2013 – Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Dave Joerger, Assistant Coach Duane Ticknor, Guard Jerryd Bayless, Guard Quincy Pondexter, COO Jason Wexler and City of Memphis Mayor AC Wharton will host a civic celebration and court dedication on September 24 at Southside Park (612 South Parkway East Memphis, TN 38106) from 5-7 p.m. After being named the No. 1 franchise in professional sports by ESPN the Magazine earlier in the week, the celebration will also feature Grizz and the Grizz Girls and all of Grizz Nation is invited to attend.

The Grizzlies will host this celebration to thank Grizz Nation for helping them earn the honor as the best franchise in professional sports. During the celebration, representatives from the Grizzlies, City of Memphis Mayor AC Wharton and representatives from The Works Inc. and TruGreen will host a ribbon cutting for the revitalized basketball court at Southside Park in recognition of September being National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. The court was revitalized as a visionary project under one of the guide-lining principles of the Grizzlies Healthy Home Court initiative – to provide children with access to healthy options.

Grizzlies fans of all ages are invited to attend. The first 500 fans in attendance can enjoy free Jet’s Pizza and Pepsi products, plus inflatables, face painters and airbrush tattoo artists to the sounds of a live DJ.The Grizzlies merchandise trailer will also be on-site, as well as The Green Machine Mobile Farmer’s Market with fresh fruits and vegetables.
