Health and Fitness
Committed to creating a healthier Mid-South, the Grizzlies aim to increase access to health and fitness options, educating individuals about healthy life choices and inspiring individuals to make healthy decisions. In 2013, the Memphis Grizzlies became the first and only sports team to win the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.
The Girls Summit presented by Nike, introduces young women to career opportunities available through competitive sports with hand-on demonstrations and panel discussions. The event exposes girls to a range of movement, non-traditional and traditional sports clinics with hands-on demonstrations and panel discussions with former and current professional athletes.
GrizzFuel, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, educates youth on how to make proper decisions about their healthy habits with nutrition. It provides hands-on engagement that allows them to see and demonstrate the correlation between proper foods with increased energy levels, moods and improved immune systems and weight loss from the choices they make in their daily lives.
GrizzFit is a “no-experience necessary” fitness program, designed to introduce students to different forms of physical exercise while educating and challenging them to make healthier choices in their everyday lives. Boot camp sessions are 60 minutes long and introduce new muscle groups, health tips, and character-building challenges and activities each week. GrizzFit Coaches create a safe space for students to exercise and build relationships, emphasizing fun and form, while encouraging every participant to work at their own level.
