The Memphis Grizzlies selected forward Cameron Boozer with the third overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Grizzlies also acquired the draft rights to forward Karim Lopez (No. 21 overall) via trade.
Who is Cameron Boozer?
Cameron Boozer is an 18-year-old, 6-foot-8 forward from Duke University and the son of two-time NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer. In his lone college season, he averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 55.6% from the field, becoming the consensus National Player of the Year. He is only the fifth freshman in NCAA history to earn that distinction, joining Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Zion Williamson, and Cooper Flagg as the only players to sweep both the National Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors.

Who is Karim Lopez?
Karim Lopez is a 19-year-old, 6-foot-8 forward who spent the previous two seasons with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia's NBL Next Stars program, the same pathway used by LaMelo Ball, Josh Giddey, and Alex Sarr. Lopez averaged 10.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game and set the all-time NBL Next Stars scoring record for a draft-eligible player. He is also the first Mexico-born player ever selected in the first round of the NBA Draft.
How did the Grizzlies acquire Karim Lopez?
Memphis acquired Lopez's draft rights (No. 21 overall) and three future second-round picks from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for the rights to guard Ebuka Okorie (No. 17 overall). In a preceding trade, the Grizzlies had acquired Okorie's rights and two future second-round picks from the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Bennett Stirtz (No. 16 overall). The net result: Memphis added Lopez plus five future second-round picks.

Yes. Boozer represented Team USA and won gold medals as the MVP of both the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship and the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup. He also led Christopher Columbus High School to back-to-back Florida state championships in 2024 and 2025.
Has Karim Lopez played professionally before the NBA Draft?
Yes. Lopez began his pro career in Spain with Joventut Badalona before joining the New Zealand Breakers. He made his Mexican Senior National Team debut at age 17 and became the youngest player in NBL history to record a double-double.
