Jaren Jackson Jr. Block Party Recap sponsored by Mountain Dew
The Memphis Grizzlies are committed to making a difference in the lives of underserved families across the Mid-South region. Our broad areas of support include education, health & fitness, youth development and volunteer engagement.
The Read to Achieve Program presented by International Paper in association with KPMG is our signature, most extensive educational outreach initiative. It is designed to encourage elementary school students to develop a lifelong love for reading and to promote the value of reading and literacy. Players, coaches and staff members host reading assemblies and other in-school challenges. The program culminates each year with the Read to Achieve Finale Celebration held at the FedEx Forum. More than 15,500 students across Shelby County Schools participate in the Read to Achieve program every year.
Health and Fitness
Committed to creating a healthier Mid-South, the Grizzlies work to increase access to health and fitness options, educating individuals about healthy life choices and inspiring individuals to make healthy decisions. In 2013, the Memphis Grizzlies became the first and only sports team to win the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.
The Tickets for Kids Program gives players and ownership the opportunity to purchase group tickets to invite youth to attend Grizzlies home games. More than 22,000 tickets were donated to youth across the Mid-South this past season. Tickets are also given to local schools to help incentivize attendance, academic achievement, behavior, and community service.
Grizzlies Cares is the organization’s overarching umbrella for all employee volunteer services. Each year Grizzlies players, coaches and front office staff give back to the community through a variety of impactful service driven projects.
GrizzFam is the Grizzlies’ auxiliary group that supports the needs of the community throughout the Mid-South region. Members are comprised of the wives and significant others of the Grizzlies players, coaches, basketball operations and ownership staff. This past Season of Giving, GrizzFam hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at the Salvation Army’s Purdue Center of Hope for the eighth consecutive year. In addition, throughout the year, GrizzFam supports homeless women and children initiatives.
Memphis Grizzlies Youth Basketball seeks to provide the premier setting to learn, play and enjoy the game of basketball while delivering exciting and rewarding NBA experiences. We offer programs to players of all ages and skill levels, including camps, clinics, leagues, tournaments, private training and special events.
The Memphis Grizzlies Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to harnessing the power and promise of sport to transform lives, particularly those of children living at risk. As the philanthropic arm of the Grizzlies organization, the Foundation is focused on finding, funding and creating youth mentoring and development programs in Memphis that help students discover and meet their potential.
Since 2001, the Foundation has invested more than $51 million in three strategic focus areas related to youth development: innovative K-12 education programming, high-impact health and fitness initiatives, and expanded platforms for youth mentoring – all as a means to help prepare every student in Memphis for success in college, career and life.
