Pat Sullivan begins the third season of his second stint as an assistant coach with the Pistons after serving as an assistant coach for the New Jersey Nets from 2005-08. He was promoted to the bench with the Pistons under Larry Brown in 2004-05, after serving as assistant coach/video coordinator during the club’s 2003-04 NBA Championship season. Sullivan has served as head coach for the Pistons summer league team that competed at the Vegas Summer League each of the last two seasons.
The Bogota, New Jersey native brings over 16 years of basketball experience with him as either a player or a coach. As a player at North Carolina, Sullivan played in three NCAA Final Fours (1991, 1993 and 1995) and coached in three as an assistant coach at UNC (1997, 1998 and 2000). Following his stint at UNC, Sullivan moved to North Carolina-Wilmington, where he was an assistant coach from 2001-03. Sullivan played at North Carolina with former Pistons’ players Rasheed Wallace, Jerry Stackhouse and Hubert Davis.
Sullivan graduated from North Carolina in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in communications. He resides in Oakland County with his wife, Sara, and stepson, Collin.
