TRAINING CAMP PROFILES: HANK THORNS
The Clippers added five players prior to training camp, rounding out the roster at 20. Here’s a snapshot of each guy to help you get a little more familiar with them before Wednesday’s open scrimmage at USC’s Galen Center.
Hank Thorns, PG, 5-9/165. A rookie point guard, Thorns, who is from Las Vegas, was among the top players in the Mountain West last season as a senior at TCU. He earned a spot on the Mountain West Conference First Team in 2012, a year after a second team finish as a junior.
Throughout his career, Thorns showed an ability to do whatever his team needed to win. After finishing among the NCAA's leaders in assists in 2010-11, Thorns took on more of a scoring role as a senior, finishing with a career-high 13.5 points per game. His newfound scoring ability helped lead the Horned Frogs to a postseason berth for the first time since 2004-05. Perhaps, his signature moment came Feb. 14, 2012, when he poured in 32 points with eight 3-pointers in an upset of No. 11 UNLV.
|Vinny Del Negro: "Hank competes and he has a great toughness about him. Obviously, he knows how to adapt to situations and sees the floor well as a point guard."|
