Press Release: American Airlines Becomes Official Airline Partner of Los Angeles Clippers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Los Angeles Clippers and American Airlines today announced a major, multi-year agreement making American Airlines the Official Airline of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Clippers President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Doc Rivers, Clippers President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker and American Airlines Vice President of Global Marketing Fernand Fernandez will officially discuss the partnership during media availability on Friday, February 20th at the Terminal 4 at Los Angeles International Airport beginning at 5:00 PM.
“This momentous partnership with American Airlines marks a strategic development in Clippers history,” said Clippers President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker. “We are pleased to welcome American Airlines to the Clippers family as the Official Airline of the Los Angeles Clippers. We look forward to working closely with American to strengthen their brand with the Los Angeles community.”
As the Official Airline of the Clippers, American’s logo will appear on the court apron during home games in the space that covers the out-of-bounds area on the sideline between the baselines and the coaches' box. The airline will have a branding presence with the Clippers through numerous elements including video board and LED Courtside signage, in-arena activations and digital and broadcast features. American will also become the presenting sponsor of the “Clippers Weekly” 30-minute magazine style show about the team on Prime Ticket.
“Just like the Clippers, our more than five-thousand American Airlines employees and their remarkable customer service are tough to beat in Los Angeles,” said Fernand Fernandez, American’s Vice President of Global Marketing. “American already serves more customers than any other airline at LAX, and our partnership with the Clippers underscores our commitment to Los Angeles – a city that is vital to our global network”.”
As part of the partnership, the Clippers and American Airlines are hosting an exclusive enter-to-win contest on Clippers.com. Fans can visit the team’s website now through this Sunday, February 22nd to enter to win a chance to see the Clippers take on the Dallas Mavericks on March 13. The grand prize includes round trip airfare for two on American Airlines, tickets to the game and hotel accommodations.
