The 2018-19 Clippers Read to Achieve program had over 69,000 students participate from 165 Los Angeles area schools. Elementary and middle school students that participated in the Minutes Challenge read a total of over 4.5 million minutes during the program. Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet in Los Angeles and Zamboni Middle School in Paramount, were the winning Elementary and Middle Schools, respectively, for the Minutes Challenge. Both schools received a school visit from a Clippers Alumni.

Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet – April 22, 2019 – Minutes Challenge Winning School – Elementary School

On April 22, 2019, the LA Clippers took timeout to recognize the students at Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet for winning the Clippers Read to Achieve Minutes Challenge for the 2018-19 season. During this year’s Minutes Challenge the students at Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet read 500,000 minutes, which was the most for any elementary school participating in the program. LA Clippers Alumni Craig Smith visited the school for a reading timeout, followed by a question and answer session with the students. Each student in attendance received a t-shirt, book and school supplies courtesy of the Read to Achieve program. The goal of the Los Angeles Clippers Read to Achieve program is to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books and technology while encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children.

Zamboni Middle School – June 3, 2019 – Minutes Challenge Winning School – Middle School

The Los Angeles Clippers took timeout on June 3, 2019 to recognize the students at Zamboni Middle School for reading over 165,000 minutes during the 2018-19 Clippers Read to Achieve program. LA Clippers Alumni Craig Smith visited the school to speak with the students on the importance of education and reading. Students also participated in a question and answer session with Craig during the event. Each student in attendance received a t-shirt, book and school supplies courtesy of the Read to Achieve program. The goal of the Los Angeles Clippers Read to Achieve program is to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books and technology while encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children.
