LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS ACQUIRE AUSTIN RIVERS IN THREE-TEAM TRADE

The Los Angeles Clippers today acquired guard Austin Rivers as part of a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns the team announced today. In exchange for Rivers, the Clippers sent forward Chris-Douglas Roberts and a 2017 second round draft pick to the Celtics and forward Reggie Bullock to the Suns. The Celtics received forward Shavlik Randolph from Phoenix in the trade.

Rivers, 22, was the 10th selection in the 2012 NBA Draft by New Orleans and appeared in 165 career games with the team (33 starts), averaging 6.9 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 21.4 minutes before being traded to Boston on Jan. 12. This season, the 6-foot-4 inch Rivers has made 35 appearances (three starts) for the Pelicans and is averaging 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 21.4 minutes per game.

A stand-out at Duke University for one season in 2011-12, Rivers averaged 15.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 34 games.

Bullock, 23, was drafted by the Clippers with the 25th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. In 68 career games (two starts) with Los Angeles, Bullock averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game.

Douglas-Roberts, 28, was signed by the Clippers on Sept. 3, 2014 and appeared in 12 games this season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.0 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game.
